Pros:
1. I do personally like what this skill tree offers and the direction this will take for matches and mech building. I like that anyone of my mechs can be tricked out to how I feel it should.
2. I like that there is a maximum limit on weapon cool down within any given weapon tree.
3. I like that jump jets can have some variation to there function now.
4. I like that the experience cost is not that much per node.
5. I like that mechs still have a set amount quirks so mechs can be built around those.
6. I like that some clan mechs that needed armor bonus can have some now.
Cons:
1. Limit on nodes per mech is little odd set at 91 instead of maybe 100 even.
2. This new system is gonna hinder newer players greatly when first jumping into the game.
3. For those who have played for awhile and have purchased a lot mechs with either c-bill or MC the cost of the grind to get to a mastered mech for all variant is gonna be quite large.
4. Cost to completely master a mech variant is a lot at 9,100,000 c-bill.
5. The full cost to respect is not that bad, but with the cost to fully master it is not that good. Basically it will cost over 11 mil c-bill to fully master/respect if needed.
6. The compromise in some trees to get to things like cool run and heat containment is kinda harsh considering those were basics that helped all mechs manage heat better before. (Examples: having to go through hill climb or speed retention to get to these)
7. The tree does feel non-linear.
8. The skill tree itself needs some work in it's layout in terms of navigation.
9. I feel that under the enhancement section on the right where it details all of what you have unlocked while building is a lot of information to process all at once. This needs to be simplified I feel if possible.
10. Filling up a skill tree has no added bonus to completing a tree now.
In conclusion:
Like I said in the Pros section of this post I like what this system has to offer and I think it could work in the long run provided a lot of the issues are worked out. I currently feel as it stands that this is not ready for it's Feb 21st launch considering the Cons outweigh the Pros. I mean if the devs at PGI can fix a lot of the problems that people are concerned with before launch then this could work out very well. This topic post of course is an opinion of mine and what I have seen while testing this out. I am not angry or trying to start a fight but just trying to giving constructive feedback per what the devs would like to see.
