and we are back on the numbers. which I really didn't want this to be about.

I wanted to discuss if the new system had a better sense of progression.

Progress on the old system was only about if you had mastered (progress from 0 to mastered was not satisfying). Does the new system just make that longer or is it a satisfying experience going from 0 to 91?

Not having to play garbage tier mechs alone will make it better. Not having to hunt down and swap out modules will make it better. Being able to actually *choose* what skills to get first will make it better. Being able to grab speed tweak within your first 20k XP will be better. Being able to improve your mech bit by bit every 1k XP will (probably) help with the feeling of progression. Knowing the exact values of every skill point will make it better. But that's just like, my opinion :)

For me, it's doesn't feel satisfying. Whenever I'd buy something, I kept thinking, is this the wrong choice; is this going to cost me C-bills to fix in the long run. It might be better if it was on a fresh mech, but I was trying to get my existing mechs where they were before. Even Speed Tweak was kind of scary. It seemed as if I was going faster then speed tweak and then I was wondering what I didn't purchase and should have. Also, buying things like Hill Climb because you have to isn't satisfying at all.

Disagree, with the way that it is currently set up it will feel like a super burdensome overwhelming grind, that is preventing me from saving enough money to buy xl engines, other equipment, or new mechs. Plus it will instantly make my clan wars drop deck non viable until I have scraped together approximately 40 million c bills, and an extra 400,000 exp(I think master is 50,000 right?), which will feel super ******, because i will be loosing mech functionality until that happens. I actually didn't have a problem with the skill tree as it currently sits, as it seems like you get it in satisfying little chunks. I admit it did slow down quite a bit after you got the basics out of the way, but getting the basics accomplished didn't feel bad to me. I will admit some times the 3rd variant could be an issue, but it did force me to use weapon systems i normally wouldn't have and made me a better overall pilot as i better understood their use and limitations.
