If you want to retain the functionality you had, before the update, you spend all the points, and you have left for 1 of the following branches:

Survivability

Infotech

Since radar derp is basically only against LRMs, most will pick survivability

Meaning we gona see some LRM spaaaam for days, not ranting, my MDD maybe gonna finally break dat 1.5k dmg barrier I never breached with it

You can easily get both survivability and radar derp if you abandon the upper chassis skills. Those get bogged down by so many useless arm skills that I can't justify spending points there.

54 points gets you every thing back from the current skill system except:

5% global loss to heat dissapation that you can't get back
5% loss to heat threshold that you can't get back
5% loss to global weapon cooldowns that you can get back for a specific weapon with skill points.
12% loss to weapon specific cooldowns from modules that you can't get back

Other than that, it's all buffs.

Well Gauss and PPCs are gonna be **** now, with no crits there is little point to take them over lasers, so a big nerf on those

LRMs get range reduced

Well we will see TTK increased, yes

Also - 60% survivability increase for Lights, lol, my artic Cheetah gonna eat them whales head on now

I never use radar derp as an anti lrm system, basically is my detection-alarm, notifying me when someone has an eye out for me... hinting me that my sneak around is compromised.

I'm definitely glad that they combined the laser/AC/missile skills together, rather than separately for each of them (e.g. small laser separate from large laser).

I think the only thing I'm not a fan of is being required to pay for skills with both CBills and XP. Only respecing should be where you need CBills.

What Ex Atlas Overlord said.

You can easily get all the necessary skills to your lower chassis, armor/ structure bonuses AND radar deprivation, but you'll have to abandon any hope of having skills for multiple weapon types.

This new skill tree system does what some were very worried about. It cripples multi-weapon system builds. Some mechs were outright reliant on weapon cooldown modules to make their atrocious variant just sub-par. Instead we are now encouraged to abuse one weapon system to an obnoxious degree.

I did ignore upper torso, but...you really feel it on certain 'Mechs (MLX and MAD, for my part). Surprisingly, it was actually the arm speed I missed.

Actually, the Gauss still has a 42% chance to destroy any given 7.5HP piece of equipment, which includes many non ballistic weapons, heatsinks, and other worthwhile items.

They'll no longer instagib faces, because that needs 2 (unless you strip a single point of armor, then RIP)

60% increase isn't quite right
Remember that Structure=half Armor, so the structure buffs=Armour buffs numerically, if you max the tree

28*1.25
+
14*1.35
=
35+18.9
=53.9 HP, up from 42
12 points of IS&A, or 24

Less than the GodQuirk era, of 15
