I may disagree with a few things, like how it encourages 2 type boating, but this is the change I believe this game needed.

The direction is solid, and yes the menu may lag, but the principle of achievable progression with constant and even rewards, with "capstones" topping it off making completing a tree rewarding.

Having spent a lot of time in borderlands 2 recently and playing around with builds on there, I can really appreciate the idea and have a much deeper understanding of how skill tree based systems work, along with the additive scaling.

It really bothers me to see how blind some of the community is, not being able to see past a "nonoptimal" skill to the path it unlocks. It's way more fun to have a little quirk with minimal use, than simply having to sink multiple skill points into the end result.

I really take my hat off to PGI for being brave enough to move away from the 3 mech system.
They have relied on it for income for years and it's a massive risk to leave it behind. A move I welcome and one future players of MWO will take for granted.

Same with the balance changes of late, gameplay on the test server is balls of fun, and something I highly recommend before you comment on anything here, things work out quite differently in practice than on paper.

o7 all, hunt well.

PGI should be praised for taking this step, but as many of said, it needs a bit more work to get right. The premise of this skill tree is solid and welcome.

To repeat some pieces that most seem to agree on:
- 91 skill slots are way too much. Setting up a mech feels like too much mouse work.
- Having to pass through non-optimal skills adds weight to the ones that people do aim for, though some of the choices are a bit suspect. (I'm looking at you, Quick Ignition 1)
- Multiple entry points would help with the customization thing. Not everyone will want Hard Brake 1 before acceleration quirks - though I probably would).
- The skill system should *really* discourage boating one weapon somehow rather than reinforce the current issue as it does now.
- The XP system is fair and warranted, but the UI catches players in the headlights a bit.
- Some trees' effects are not worth the SP cost.
