What Is With All The Pgi Bashing On Forum?

I am not disagreeing with PGI did some bad things... but:
1) Bagging PGI without constructive basis is just lots of hot negative air...
2) There is no game developer out there that's doing much better.. I had quit MWO for many times over the year, but I always returned because there isn't many options out there.. so some of us are choosing to help make it better, rather than bagging PGI...
For those people who like to "inform" others of PGI's issues, I thank you and would appreciate if you start your own "bagging PGI" topic, and leave this topic along... I promise I will check out your topic if I ever feels like bagging PGI...

#1 Was MWO the MechWarrior/Battletech game you envisioned or wanted?
#2 Has Russ and PGI made a spectacular game you want to pay into?
#3 Do you believe MWO is headed in the right direction for you to have a continued commitment to Play and Pay into the game?
The poll list could go on and on but the main question is
#4 Do you believe this game will survive this year with a population below 15,000 active players or less?
P.S personally I like MWO in many ways and hate MWO in many ways I guess its because I have seen what is good and bad in this IP series for the past 20 years from solo play to huge leagues ETC etc.. But I do believe if Russ and PGI wanted to listen to its fans and players they could remodel MWO to be a Game of the year but not without rebuilding the core structure of the game itself.

No, because any constructive criticism geared towards the game is listened through only Twitter apparently. PGI is making things worse by their own arrogance. We just want the game to be better as a whole, and we also want a good reason to spend money on them.
I believe that constructive discussion in this FORUM is not the easiest to navigate thru all the hot air.. if I find this FORUM too hard to find constructive discussion, I sure wouldn't blame PGI for ignoring it too or some players from not waiting to read/add value.... Mediated/controlled section of FORUM can make this better..

This is another example of why mediated/controlled FORUM is helpful... KingCobra brought up some very good discussion points above and they deserved their own topic for further discussion.. designated FORUM mediator can create another topic for this discussion and keep the discussion topic focus... I understand lines between topics can be blur and crossover, but keeping it simple and to the point can help...

mmm yes, no arrogance from all the "professional game developers" on these forums.... good point. Hell, y'all have crawled naked over broken glass just begging to help them........
PGI has made their share of stupid decisions. The worst is probably listening to anyone on the forums at all, since they've been running around like a hamster on a wheel going nowhere ever since... despite the fact most of "PGIs" ideas...were actually from these forums.

Which is how a lot of y'all are any time PGI does something right, also. Go figure.

Hmmmm? I was quite openly happy about how stuff like the comm wheel worked out, and Angry Clan Man, and escort actually being... fun? So I'm not exactly sure what you're getting at in that regard. And the new skill tree has potential, but dear lord I won't be able to deal with it if they don't fix some of the glaring issues.

There is a vast difference between the "idea" and the "implementation" of said idea.

Hey, I gave credit to the tutorial revamp, but yet it's still behind in so many areas...
It's hard to give credit when there's so much disappointment and failure in between.

Bishop, this is a very constructive point you brought up here.. It might be a good start for PGI to give each OP control of the comments on their topic and who they can banned from commenting on it.. hopefully:
- OP who cares can have more control and keep their topic tidy
- OP who censored too much will just lose viewers and ended up a the bottom of the pile..
- PGI will take an interest in certain topics and give the OP recognition/ acknowledgement that the topic is being listened to..
I would love to have the ability to "clean" up this topic and keep it focus... lets see how long before it gets out of control and I "give up" on it...

Indeed. Things need to be fixed, without a doubt. Which is a far cry different than most of the comments on here.

If things were as fail as you claim, it's truly boggling that you are still here. Just saying. Masochistic? Or just your typical internet type more in love with schadenfreude and complaining than anything else? I mean bloody hell, I've posted far more than is healthy, and a goodly amount HAS been critical, including rants, and frustration, etc. But it seems like you are intent to just go everywhere and crap on the lawn.

PGI has tremendous talent. Their artists, engineers, production staff, etc are amazing. Their design... (at least whoever makes the final call) is lazy... or unimaginative. (Or both.)
I could do a long series of examples... but they aren't hard to figure out. The worst part though, and why they deserve *most* of the shade they get... is that their ego will not let them recognize when something just isn't working.. until long after it's driven off a portion of their client base and poisoned most of the remainder. (You can read about this kinda thing on glassdoor, actually.)
I cannot remember the last time I spent money on the game...(Though I had spent a great deal up until then) I don't know any of my friends that still play MWO. (We play MWLL sometimes, because we still love BTech) I come through the forums almost as a ritual as I had done for so long... at this point just looking for them to make *one* impactful positive change.
I don't know if the game can recover...but we won't know until PGI makes scores a critical hit on improving the gameplay.
(And if you're wondering why nobody uses the suggestions forums... it's for the same reason people complain on here. Doesn't matter what anyways suggests or how they back up their points... it's like talking to the void.)

It was hard for me to follow many of the constructive discussions while going thru all the PGI bashing... and a lot of times it feels like good ideas were buried under 6 feet of bashing manure.. Sometimes I wondered how many of those unhappy players actually quit the game, as compared to the number of players who read their unhappy comments..
Fellow MechWorriors, we are living in a time where "free speech" can be a bit too much...
Imagine a section of FORUM where only a few highly regarded MWO players are authorize to start a discussion topic and remove/bar certain comments... these discussion topics can be propose by everyone, but have to be vetted by the few designated respected people (not just by PGI..).. hopefully these discussion will be more idea rich where it can be useful for PGI...
I can imagine someone will voiced that this is a bulls**t fantasy and how it can't be done... but I believe it is a better direction to move towards for the FORUM and so the question to everyone is what is needed for this to be achievable?
If PGI participated in their forum more, you would have a point.
Instead they do more through Twitter so it will not work.

TBH, the 3-variant grinding system is somewhat masochistic in its way (I mastered a Spider-5V - so, I can't really avoid the shame that comes with that).
I do like schadenfreude, but I'd rather PGI get stuff done right (it doesn't have to be perfect, but "mostly" in the right direction) instead of done "quickly" or "minimally".
I do have issues with other games, but unlike those other games.. they are minor gripes compared to this game.
Let's be honest... you're not that much better than me at expressing the issues with this game.
PGI deserves all the poop they get. So, I'm content at seeing either they stop producing poop or... to see the ship sink (a poopy collapse).
It's not as if PGI is providing any semblance of hope in the PTS.

Here's my pros and cons of the skill tree, avoiding all other changes on the PTS (Like the crit changes that are making my mechs fall apart instantly)
Pros
- Clean and nice to look at. The current skill system looks like what it is, a placeholder system. This new one actually looks like a proper setup.
- No Pinpoint skill.
- No need to have 3 variants of a chassis to level them.
- Magazine Capacity skill.
- Jump Jet skills.
- Sensor range skills. I actually wanted those to exist. Sue me.
- No more clunky module swapping, or limits on how many modules you can fit in a mech, since it's now just limited to your SP.
- The ability to decide to not get torso/arm skills, and instead focus entirely on lower chassis skills. Again, I quite like that. They should split up the branches more IMHO.
Cons
- The absurd prices for leveling mechs, both in regards to C-Bills and XP. Mostly C-Bills though.
- The requirement of the player buying skills they don't need or want to reach "necessary" skills. For instance, torso twist/yaw/pitch skills being locked behind arm skills, when you might be running a mech that doesn't have lower arm actuators.
- The skill tree slows down my FPS when I decide to spec a new skill. I don't understand that one TBH.
- JJ branch is heavily underpowered.
- Defensive branch is... there? I can't really notice its effects in anything smaller than an assault mech.
- Discourages build diversity in regards to weaponry, and also discourages buying multiple of the same variant due to the fact that you have to grind the XP out again for each variant you buy.
- The nonsensical placement of certain skills. For instance, NARC buffs being locked behind capture speed squirks, or AMS buffs being locked behind fall damage reduction squirks.
- It's a pain for me to find out what bonuses my mechs actually have. I might be missing some sort of page you can bring up outside of the actual skill tree window, but if I am, that's another problem of it not being obvious.
- It's incredibly easy to accidentally click on the "pay with GXP" option, and have to re-do all your work speccing to figure out which node you chose to do it on.
- Certain squirks are completely negligible, and are completely worthless unless you max them out. No-one is going to benefit from a .8% heat reduction on a laser. Lower the number of nodes and buff the nodes that are still around.
Still no Clan Diamond Shark, PGI PLZ FIX.

yea, I gotta make a thread telling people to stop making these threads, because its just the echo-chamber gang that swarms these things.
Anyway. Its like I said above ignore the people on the extremes. those simple post that don't explain anything are not interested in what people have to say. They are interesting in their own view and the people that share there views.
I am in the PTS and on team speak talking about the PTS and people disagree with me and I with them. But at no point does the conversation halt and devolve because as long as the people can understand other points of view then the conversation will get productive. You might just learn a thing or two. Then again I don't expect much from people on a online forum to be honest.
