At 600k cbills for 100m and 1.2M cbills for 200m, I can actually put seismic on all my brawlers, hell even all my mechs! And advanced zoom now costs just 400k! And radar deprivation is 1.6m!

In contrast the +X% buffs in the firepower and defense sections are way way too anemic for their price. -4% cooldown on UACs for 1M is not worth it (though the +20% UAC velocity that comes with it MAY be). +15% armor and +20% structure for 1.4M MAY be worth it for assault mechs, but definitely not worth it for mediums and below. 1.6M for full speed tweak (+7.5%) MAY be worth it, but +3.2% yaw speed for 1.7M most definitely is NOT worth it.

You should look at changing these prices (definitely cbills but maybe also XP) to reflect the utility of the bonuses they confer, and maybe even change the prices per weight class (e.g. defense is cheaper for meds and lights but more expensive for heavies and assaults).

I agree that the sensor tree is very powerful. Maybe a bit too powerful. You get about 4-5 useful mech modules for like 15 points or so.

The price and xp shouldn't be a concern. The problem is that they are way too easy to acquire. We get way too many skill points and can literally grab every worthwhile skill without having to make any decisions at all.

Yes it does seem so. At these prices I do not see any reason why anyone would not choose to get seismic and radar dep as their first unlocks for ANY mech. Seismic in particular is WAY too powerful. They should limit it to certain mechs (the way they limit ECM slots) so not all matches are wallhack-fests. Seismic also diminishes scouting and UAVs and I wouldn't mind if they nerf it or even completely remove it from the game (but that's another thread).

The price and XP start mattering when you start comparing the different branches of the tree. If a certain branch is too cheap, there's no reason not to take it and ignore (or at least delay) the rest. That doesn't lead to build diversity.

Cbills and XP are not a deterrent. Balance-wise the only currency in the skill tree that matters are skill points.

Maybe in the upper tiers and older players, but not in the lower tiers. When you have to scrimp and save to get that next mech and also for skill points, there's no room for experimenting in the skill tree. You get the ones that get the best bang for the buck first (perhaps only those skills too).

I've been toying around with the skills a bit more and here's my take on what's over/underpriced:

Seismic and radar deprivation: WAY underpriced. You can get both 1.9M cbills. That's a steal!

Lower torso mobility: OK to slightly underpriced. Speed tweak and turn speed is worth about 2m cbills. That's ok when the extra speed can mean the difference in winning/losing a nascar race.

Upper torso mobility: WAY overpriced. 2M for 5% torso twist speed!? CMON.

Operations: OK. The heat skills add around +10% heat and dissipation, that's worth paying for.

Weapons: OK for the projectile speeds (particularly for PPCs and the larger ACs), mostly overpriced for cooldowns and range. Cooldowns are a better deal for weapons that already have high DPS (spls, srms, etc). Heat you can take or leave, but I'd rather just spend those points on the operations tree.

Defense: Not sure. Seems to be really worth it on the big assaults (+15%/20% is really good, especially those that still have their armor/structure quirks), not so much on smaller mechs.

You can get a lot of other modules in the movement tree as well, such as Hill Climb, Gyros, and Speed Retention. Between the movement tree and the sensory tree you can get the equivalent of 10 modules.

You'll be hurting on other skills, but I think those are worth it.

Time to bring in the anti seismic for lights. There should be a counter to this.
