The skill tree costs for Ballistics are quite low (15 AC, 20 others on PTS) . These weapons also allow for the benefit of minimum spending in OPS as they are quite cool. Max points can then go to Mobility, Structure and Info warfare nodes. So Maulers, KIng Crabs, Kdk and Dires ( Black Widow..others?) may do very well in the new system. IS may actually have an edge here, depending on how the nodes interact with clan UAC/LBX weapons.

One can only hope that the Kodiak Ultra Vomit doesn't make a comeback. Of course, that still works right now, but it seems like people have forgotten about it.

I hope the Skill Tree doesn't give anyone any ideas.

The 10/5s or 4 10s is still probably the most powerful build in the game

wait until you see them lumbering around with armor/structure/jam chance quirks lol

They won't get more meta than they are now. You have to take into account that most mechs will have 20℅ more survivability, a heavy will take roughly 500 damage to drop.

This means that sure, a ballistic boat will wreck anyone 1 v 1, but it won't drop as many mechs as it can now

What it will become is.more reliable with the uac jam chance reduction. Tested a JM6-DD with 3 UACs, 1 jam to take down an Atlas, very reliable now. This update is the most generous to Jagermechs as they didn't get the nerfs most other mechs got to their quirks and they got insanely buffed

It's one of the first things I tried, dual 5/s + 10's is almost back to how it was. Nasty !

ballistic are always balanced due to having to lead your target, weight and ammo. It doesn't really matter much about points needed to make them better.

All mono-weapon boats will be more meta than they are now.

PGI need to seriously consider making generalist (more than one weapon type) builds just as viable as specialist (just one weapon type) builds. Or the skill trees will be fubar for sure.
Specialist and generalist can also be applied to which role you want to stick wiht (brawler, long range, scout, support etc) not just which weapon type, just a side note.
Make the most out of the different weapon types, make each mech and variant unique without making anyone overall better or worse than others, at least not by much and make that bit with some cons/ pros as compensation.

sure the nodes support monoweapon "type" boating ( pity Clans er/lpl mix builds) but I think Ballistics get a boost {with agreement to DovisKhan regarding relative decrease in "load" weapons versus assumed generalized structure boosts} You can dive into Ops for 10 points to increase Magazine size and use saved points elsewhere (Mauler- 15 Ballistic,14-Structure,10-Ops, 20_mobility. 23-Info, 9-upper body)

Wait, so you want to say that Kodiaks, Night Gyrs, Warhammers, Maulers, etc. aren't meta now?
