- I own 63 Mechs, an even mix of Inner Sphere and Clan, Light to Assault.
- 25 are Mastered, 7 are Elite, 21 are Basic and 10 are just starting the basic XP tree.
- I have unlocked 43 Weapon modules, of which I own 50. [I swap to save C-Bills]
- I have unlocked six Mech modules, of which I own 18. [I swap to save C-Bills]
- I expect a GXP refund of 223 000 at skill tree launch.
- I expect a C-Bill refund of 244 000 000 at skill tree launch.
Basically, any Mech I have Mastered I can expect to have 57000 XP on, or, at current PTS values, 38 out of 91 potential skill points. That leaves 79500 XP to make up per Mastered chassis, if I want to make them peak combat effective. Initially I thought I'd be ok putting something like 60 skill points into each Mech, having room to work on them as I played them. These skill point prices don't even allow for that, so I'd be looking at selling off half my Mechs and forgetting about them, because I don't have time to grind that at all.
So, long story short... while I think the new system is pretty good for newer players just starting out, and is certainly an improvement over the old three Mech system from that standpoint, it really fails long standing players who have invested a good amount of time into the game. I don't even feel as though I fall under that category. People who have 230+ Mechs must be blanching at the thought of the effort they'll need to put forth in the future.
I see where PGI is going with this and what they're trying to accomplish, but some forethought is needed here.

Looking forward to the changes Russ has promised as coming to the system in the future, and the one month patch delay was fully warranted.
