The way the trees are currently structures, in my mind, they are not trees at all. They are a carbon copy linear progression with no real choices at all.
If you want lower heat for your lasers, but not cooldown, Tough cookies.
If you want better torso twist, but don't care about arm speed, Tough cookies.
If you want mech speed, but don't care about hill climbing? Tough cookies.
If you want increased armor and structure, but don't care about fall damage? Tough cookies.
All of the trees are structured in this similar way of eliminating choice, which seems to be is in contradiction to the entire point of having a skill tree in the first place. The way the skill tree is currently structured, it will essentially boil down to a one choice meta, with the only difference between the skill tree of mech A and mech B will be what weapon tree you select.
I think that would be a real shame.
