Alt accounts necroing threads just for their amusement or just trolls getting bored to do something else.

Normally, I subscribe to the idea that you bump older threads if you have something of consequence to contribute...

On the other hand, people are better off creating a new thread since thread necromancy these days are worse than "poop topic, different OP" where most of the same content isn't new or exciting like LRMs are OP, or Lights are OP. With new poopy threads, the spindoctoring goes up to 11.

You cannot win vs forumites.

If you start a thread and there is another one that is going on that is similar you will get flamed.

If you find a thread that is talking about what you want to talk about and bump it you get flamed.

So since you can not win where they are concerned its fun to find some really old thread to necro to annoy them.

Bah. The reason folks grief on necros is because of the nature of this game. It changes constantly.

I mean if I necro a thread on: "Flamers OP?" dated June 2014, the issues at the top of that thread have nothing to do with the issues involving flamers of today. By necro-ing it you are going to perpetuate confusion to the uninitiated, and also draw folks in to a topic that they will waste time on because they will only note the title and think "What? Did they do something to flamers? What's going on with flamers?" then they waste 5 minutes reading about why flamers were or were not OP in 2014 and then get irritated and post a necro gif mocking the person who revived the damn thread.

If this game stayed constant necroing would be fine. But since PGI in all of it munificence changes it every 2 months or so, old threads are almost always no longer relevant after a few months. So save us all the hassle and our precious 5 minutes and just start a new god damn thread. K?

Usually what I do and surprisingly often someone points out that they started a thread on the subject. *shrug* Like I said can't really win.

I just said that usually when someone necro's a thread they are intentionally trying to annoy people who complain about starting redundant threads or necroing.

I don't see the issue with bumped threads I'd rather see an old one used, even one a year old, than have five newly made ones on exactly the same subject in a month.

I think you just have to say his name three times to get him to show up in a thread.

RestosIII RestosIII RestosIII I hereby summon thee! A legend amongst the forum warriors

When MWO forums witnesses a great change, RestosIII reveals themselves first, as a gif poster. As a gif poster, they use their power to cause massive lag for mobile users, and then they vanish. However, after a long period of MIA, RestosIII returns, this time, as the savior of memes.

Most of the real thinkers have left and only the trolls, power rangers and ego maniacs are left. Along with a few insane folks like me. :)

Two reasons for necro threads. One is it help push meaningful though not popular posts to the second page out of view and second just straight trolling for trolls who cannot think for themselves.
When its the first you will find the mods let it stand, when its a troll for the sake of troll they will take action.
Do not doubt for a minute the Mods have an agenda. They always do. If not they are gone in a heartbeat.

It's pretty rare a necro has a point or value on repost.
