OK, a number of players (including myself) have already pointed out that the amount of XP required to master a mech has been increased excessively, from ~56k to ~136k, resulting in an unreasonable amount of grind. However, the question is: what amount of grind would be reasonable? Let's make a poll and see what everyone thinks. Here's a detailed breakdown of the voting choices:

1) Leave the current PTS values unchanged (1,500 XP per node, 136,500 XP per mech).
2) Reduce the amount of XP per node from 1,500 to 1,000 (91,000 XP per mech).
3) Reduce the amount of XP per node from 1,500 to 750 (68,250 XP per mech).
4) Reduce the total amount of XP per mech to exactly the same level as on the live servers (56,250 XP per mech, which would be equivalent to approx. 618 XP per node).

It needs a serious reduction.

Reduce for more Mechs of the same chassis only, to make it fairer for people who obeyed to rule of 3 for a long time.
I’m OK with a lifted ceiling, though, as far as it is only XP.

The amount of grind is neglible, as long as redistributing points (after resetting) does not cost much/anything.
I think there would be more respecs than first time skilling a mech.
The high initial costs are just the tip of the iceberg.

Anyone who played their mechs after mastering at least same number of matches as it took to master those mechs will be just fine.
Anyone who just mastered mechs and left them to rust spent most of the time playing those mech in vastly inferior state. (And should be used to it already.)

I think it is a good life lesson: "Stop time to time, and enjoy good in life, instead of running after next big thing moment you reach last one."
