Current system - New players are only using XP (maybe GXP) to unlock a mech.

New system - New players are not only using XP to unlock a mech, they are going to have to use every cent they make of their 50K cbill win to put into the skill tree.

How long do you think its going to take a new player to get a first mech to a playable status. You grind those cbills as a new player to buy another mech, not to fund a skill tree.

Why don't they keep all the basic unlocks XP only, and then if you want to start branching out into the 'module' realm, then start utilizing cbills. I'd be way more ok with that, if they just came out and said, no you now can't swap modules.

It should be just as fast but now they're required to buy modules before buying another mech.

Do you really think that New system is worse for new players?
Old system:
Get 1st mech, have no basic skills. Spend 16 games to get those Basic Efficiencies. No money to buy 2nd mech, so another 36 games on those Basic Efficiencies.
Buy 2nd mech and have no basic skills again. Spend 16 games to get those Basic Efficiencies. (no experimentation with weapon this time, but you started with no money) so 44 additional games on basic Efficiencies.
Buy 3rd mech and have no basic skills again. Spend 16 games to get those Basic Efficiencies.
- - - -
Go to 1st mech and use XP from 36 excessive games for Elite Efficiencies.
Go to 2nd mech and use XP from 44 excessive games for Elite Efficiencies.
Go to 3rd mech where you just got Basic and grind 26 games for Elite.
- - - -
Go to 2nd mech where you have largest excess of XP and play 7 games to mastery (Module slot)
= = = =
Summary:
48 games in between no basics and full Basic Efficiencies
96 games on Just Basic Efficiencies
26 Games in between Basic and Elite Efficiencies
7 Games to move from Elite to Full Mastery (means 7 games with double Basic Effect)
- - - -
old System = Bottom feeder for 170 out of 177 games. And then Sudden jump to equality.
New System = No steps back. Linear progression all the way in terms of SP. But ability to pick more important nodes 1st actually leads to diminishing returns from later nodes.
= = = =
Result: New system is incomparably better for new player than old system is.

Edit: And btw. that's description of Old system without cost of modules. Buying one 6 million module prolongs time before you can buy 2nd/3rd mech by ~40 matches. So above is best case scenario. And new system is giving modules as part of basic progression. Advanced Zoom as close as 6000XP and 400k C-Bills.
How long it takes for new player to have enough GXP for those modules?
- - - -
Where is that perspective in which Rule-of-three of old Module unlock system benefits more players than new one?

Old System...You can put min 3 modules into the mech. Masterded 4.

New mechs are just 25% behind acc to this.

New system. ....New mechs don t have anything..old a lot...

Leveling new mechs will bee much harder now.

I would like the XP in the new system to be all GXP and no XP attatched to the mech. That way while grinding cbills for a new mech you can accumulate GXP for the new mech and you can buy nodes right away. should suggest mastering one mech at a time but you can start a second mech before the first is mastered.

New system has more than 4 modules encorporated into mech. my ideal config would need 4 or 5 modules radar derp, advanced zoom, seismic sensor, hill climb, improved gyros hill, and them cool down, and range for each weapon type I have. Take longer but worth it in getting a friendlier mech.then there are the pilot skills as well.

I am quite indifferent to this idea. It is nor bad, nor good. While I like idea that player should play mech to gain experience with him, I do not think that Xp have any value once mech got all 91SP.

It is more like Double Currency-ing. And it would probably be better for everyone if we changed Unlock Cost from:
GXP + C-Bills / XP + C-Bills
to:
XP / C-Bills

In other words: Those who play mech gain XP and use them to unlock SP nodes free of C-Bills charge.
Those who do not play mech can spend C-Bills to gain SP instead.
And with this system, I would Call GXP a currency of the Past and Converted it to C-Bills. (So still could be used to unlock SP)
