simply put with the skill tree system giving an almost 0-100 value with SP can we just take that value and turn it into some kind of MM factorization to allow a different MM value based on how skilled out your mech is.. MM weight + %SP factor= new MM weight.. the Sp factor can even be formulated to use + or - vaules..

MM complaints have always been around but this skill tree system seems like an opportunity to really improve upon the system .. Mainly due to the fact that unskilled mechs have always been hard to get into and get things done VS fully kitted out mechs.. Its a skill gap problem.. Having access to quirking in this skill tree system may only seem to widen the skill gap.

Becuase we all know that the SP grind to fully maser a mech is going to be REAL.. And mastered mechs are going to more than likely be beasts compared to a novice level mech... Adjusting the MM weights based on the skill gap seems quite reasonable and easy to implement given the new skill tree system..

you could even use negative MM values up to a threshold of Min SP.. ie less than this threshold a negative percentage is applied as a modifier.. For example setting somewhere in 20-30 as the neutral point where you would have some basic pilot skills invested.. Where to set this would prolly be the only really tricky thing to do on a balance standpoint..

But yes the min threshold is very debatable because its actually far easier to load on weapon boating quirks than it would be to get basic piloting skills.. This is just a flaw in the current implementation of the tree structure.. Theres actually other ideas to the skill trees that could remedy this..

I've been suggesting this before even in the old system. Not having a mastered mech with modules would reduce your MM value (to a minimum of 5, of course). We can estimate that full mastery in the old system was at least worth 15% if not more and modules more so.

Going into a match with a fresh new mech or even a trial should have at least been a full -1 tier rating.

well with SP almost counting to 100 it wouldnt be hard to split the tiers in increments of .20.. This seems much easier to possibly implement in this new system as compared to the old one.. so maybe its really something that can be possibly done now
