Light:

IS - Raven - because EW is fun to me
Clan - Myst Lynx - can carry more SRM tubes than an Oxide, and still has room for a laser, also JJs.

Medium:
IS - Centurion - still the only mech I ever scored a kill by body slam
Clan - Nova Prime - SHC has awful hardpoints, and SCR can't be used for scouting

Heavy:
IS - Cataphract Illya Muromets - 3 med laser, 3 AC5s, simple loadout, but it can go toe-to-toe with a Timber Wolf and win
Clan - Summoner D - Has excellent Heat management and long range

Assault:
IS - Battlemaster 1GP - Pretty decent brawler
Clan - Warhawk Prime - Murdering people at range w quad ER PPCs since MW4

Ok I'll play.

Light
IS: Oxide. Flank fast, splat, repeat, earn CBills +30%.
Clan: JR2-IIC(0). As above, but with Jump Jets, bigger splat.

Medium
IS: Griffin-2N with SRMs and ERPPC. Pokes at range, splats up close.
Clan: Viper-Medusa with ERSPLs. As fast as a Light. Flies, stabs, kills, +30% CBills.

Heavy
IS: WHM Black Widow. Dakka all day.
Clan: Night Gyr D. Dakka all night in a chassis so OP that only PGI could be stupid enough not to have nerfed.

Assault
IS: BLR-2C. Max engine helps it handle like a Heavy. 3LPLs and 4MPLs deliver satisfactory punch.
Clan: EXE with LPLs and SPLs. MASC makes being in an Assault mildly tolerable.

I'll mention some 'fun' builds I've been playing with lately.

"Bait-and-Switch" Archer. I generally despise LRMs, but this Mech is hilarious to pilot. I stand at the back remote locking LRM targets like a lurmtard. Then some ACH or LCT will come to get their "easy kill"... only to find that I also have 5SSRM2 and TAG. Cracks me up every time.

KDK-3 with 4 LB10X. It's not the best Kodiak build, and it can't win a close brawl. But it's nice to not have to worry about heat at all.

For Lights, my PB, the good old Lolcust. The 1V(P) is a close second.

Mediums, I'm torn between many of them (Centurion, Stormcrow, Nova, Hunchback, Viper), but put a gun to my head and I'll probably just go with the Stormcrow.

Heavies, it has to be the Cataphract, with the T-bolt a close second.

Assaults, King Crab for life. I don't use it as much as I should, but I love it to death.

light:
Adder Prime with just the ER-PPCs.

med:
VPR-C maybe. But it goes down pretty damn fast against most things that decide to shoot at it.

heavy:
x4 MPL + NARC SMN and x2 UAC-5 + 4 meds TBR-S have been fun for a while now. x4 PPC MAD-3R is a fun build for belting out the **********, but it needs a non-potato team that will counter its minimum range problem for you.

assault:
MAD-IICs are strong and pretty, but I like maximising crappy weapons with quirks so 4x ER-PPC WHK-PRIME is my favourite. 2x UAC-20 WHK is also fun and the closest a C-UAC-20 will get to viability.

... censored. blue b*lls. lel

Lights
IS: Still the Spider (sdr-5k) LPL + MG's = Greatness
Clan: Mist lynx (mlx-prime) I run 3x SRM-4 and one C-ERSL I consistently do over 500 dmg with 2 or 3 kills.

Mediums
IS: Blackjack (bj-1x) The 8 medium laser build almost always does well, if you can manage the heat.
Clan: Stormcrow (I dont really prefer a varient) You can basically run anything and do well, but AC20 + LPL and 2xMPL is my favourite build.

Heavy
IS: Warhammer, great all round mech, can basically run anything weapons wise, a little squishy but good fun.
Clan: Timber wolf, if you run lrms on this mech you should think about your life choices, literally the most versatile mech in the history of ever.

Assault
IS: KING CRAB! 4UAC5s and 2ML. Love this thing to bits, also it convinced me to buy the Supernova.
Clan: dont own any that I enjoy, (I only own the gargoyle)

You're an IS Loyalist ... yet all but one of your favourite Mechs are Clan.

It's a sad reflection on the state of the game, TBH. I too tend to gravitate to Clan Mechs because Clan tech is just generally better.

Light (IS) - None - I hate them all.

Light (Clan) - Adder Prime w/ 2x PPCs, works on whatever map you happen to be on. Great for sniping and harrassing from the flanks - especially if you can bait some of the enemy team to try and chase your PPC-toting squirrel.

Medium (IS) - Bushwacker X2 w/ Guass and SRMs for backup. One of the few mechs where a mixed loadout seems to be workable (soften them up from afar - then use the SRMs when the teams get in close).

Medium (Clan) - Shadow Cat Prime w/ stripped armour for Guass + 2ml + ECM. Similar to Adder - doesn't matter what map you're on - you can disrupt the other side in pop-tarting attacks from weird angles. Also has the speed/JJs to outrun them when they come after you.

Heavy (IS) - Probably the Marauder - tough and carries lots of guns. Lots of guns is good.

Heavy (Clan) Ebon Jaguar A/B/C - not-so-tough but carries even more guns. Still experimenting with various combinations of SRMs, UACs and Laser-spam - current favourite is 6mls + UAC10. Use them a lot in Faction Play, where the firepower + mobility is a fair trade-off for less armour.

Assault (IS) Atlas DDC 'Spooky Atlas' - slow but fun on the right map. Nothing like smacking people in the face with a hail of SRMs/AC20 - esp. if they come round the corner and find you waiting for them. Best used with Van Halen playing in the back ground.

Assault (Clan) Dire Wolf Prime/S/W - Slow but carries more guns than 2 IS heavies combined. As already established - one can never have too many guns - go through phases of Gauss + PPC, LBX + Laser Spam and some obligatory UAC Boating. A KDK is the better platform to be honest - faster and better able to defend itself from lights - but getting good results with the DWF is worth the effort.

Light: Urbanmech UM-R63. Ultra AC/5, 3ML. I need to tweak the build, since uAC jam chance and heat have been raised. Probably go back to a superstock build of some kind, or break down and go with MGs and big lasers.

Medium: Vindicator 1X. ER PPC, 3 MG, LRM5, MPL, STD 230, 4 jets. You have to be suicidal, hang with the team, engage what they engage. I've actually soloed down heavy mechs...including a Timberwolf...in it. The armor buffs give it the resilience of a 60 ton mech, which it needs since it's speed is in the 80s. Honorable mention: Phoenix Hawk-1, superstock build adding one MG and changing the distribution of its lasers. On live, I'm typically in a Vindicator or PXH now, or occasionally the Wolverine Quarantine.

Heavy: Jester. Bone stock. But I can't run it on live anymore. Too fragile since the nerfs last year. In PTS I could restore its buffs to 2015-16 levels and it came alive again. Honorable mention: Catapult A1, mix LRM/SRM build. I can't run it anymore since the SRM heat nerfs. Also, Rifleman 3N with 2 AC10/2ML, STD 240, stock Summoner Prime, the Dragon hero twins, and a superstock 3R Marauder, though the uAC5 nerfs hurt that build and I also can't run it anymore. My current FW dropdeck is three Summoners and an Arctic Cheetah.

Assault: Zeus 6S. But I don't run assaults anymore after the resize, the Zeus became a barn door with Awesome syndrome.

Light Mech: Urbanmech UM-R63. Yeah I run it with 3LLasers :/ , but they are high mount, it runs it cool enough, and the 360 torso turn with it is rather nice. If it could fit JJs, it would be perfect IMO.
  • Close Runner Up: Panther PNT-10K (ERPPC+SRM4)

Medium Mech: This is a tough one, but I am going to say the Cicada CDA-2A (in Champion config). It's fast, agile, a great poker, and 6 MLasers are pretty effective for that style of play.
  • Close Runner Up: Phoenix Hawk PXH-1B as a PPC/ERPPC sniper
Heavy Mech: Very very hard to pick one because I like a lot of them, but if I had to pick one, I'd pick the Catapult "Jester". With 2 LPLasers and 4 MPLasers it lays down the pain and is rather quick and agile.
  • Close Runner Up 1: Ebon Jaguar (Various Chassis). Mostly the 2 LPLaser, 6 ERSLaser config.
  • Close Runner Up 2: Marauder Bounty Hunter II. 4 LLaser and 3 MLaser. (the MAD-3R was also close)
Assault Mech: I VERY rarely play the assaults, so I don't really have a favorite. If I had to pick, I'd pick the Mauler MAL-1R. I like the 4 A/C5s with 2 LLasers. It's fun *shrug*
  • Close Runner Up: Zeus ZEU-9S. Really big XL engine, 2 LPLasers with 4 MPLaser. Run in, get in close, wub away.
I think that is a pretty solid list for me right now. I still have love for the Cat K2, but it's configs float around too much to be a favorite. I also love the Cataphracts, but they are always difficult to config (unless going the 3 UAC5 route).

Also, barely didn't make it, but the WUB Crab CRB-27B is pretty fun too.

Your thread asks for favorite so this is pure subjectivity here:

Light: No idea any more, I honestly don't think I have played more thana handful of matches in any of them since the rescale.
Old favorite was the Panther 10K with ERPPC and 2 SRM4, functional at all ranges and just fun. Second would be a 10P only because no one expects a LBX or AC10 toting Panther.

Medium: This is tough, but I gotta go with the BJ-1 classic 2AC2 and 4 ML. Same reason as above, its effective at all ranges and still just fun.

Heavy: Quickdraw. Any of them, though since their 2 nerfings over the summer the close range builds are kinda dead now, but the 3 LPL, 4ERLL or even 2LPL and 2SRM4 builds are fun. Most favorite though if I am being honest is the IV-4 for pure face tanking fun.

Assault: I am ashamed to say I have had more fun with a LRMing Pretty Baby over any other Asault, but my favorite Assault is that which I dubbed: "Perfect" A Mauler resistance variant with 2PPC, 4ASRM6, and 6MG. Every hard point and crit space is used, a mixed load out that is still pretty effective, and a really nice aesthetic.

I only play Clan Mechs because of nostalgia and my own weird little personal RP. I had a couple IS Mechs prior to Clan release but all are sold except for free ones I cannot sell.

Light
Kit Fox KFX-C - This Mech taught me how not to play Lights and led me to a .29 KDR after my first 100 games. The Fox still my only Light Mech. I own two Purifiers, one with 2 x erPPC and the other with 2 x cMPL and 4 x cerSL. My KDR is 3.50 on them.

Medium
Nova Prime - Helped raise my KDR all the way up to .33 after my second 100 games, LoL. And I thought I was a Medium pilot!

Heavy
Hellbringer (2 x cUAC5/4 x cerML + ECM) I have tried other Hellbringers and even scored better in the Laser Vomit loyalty version but this is the one that I always come back to when I just want a nice dependable ride with solid scores. I guess I really am a Medium pilot because this Mech has Medium firepower, Medium speed and just a little more armor than most Mediums. It is my favorite Mech in the game.

Assault
I only own one and that is the Kodiak. I originally had the basic pack, reinforcements and Hero but I sold the 1, 4 and 5. The others are basiced but I do not like them despite some really solid scores in the KDK-3 and SB. They sit and collect dust. Maybe the new Skill Tree will finally convince me to just sell them when I need C-Bills to re-Master my favorites.

So going with your question on most enjoyable mechs rather than bestest of sweet meta ones:

LCT-1V (link)
Spoiler

Even though having been nerfed since I made that video, I still prefer this mech over all my other lights. A large pulse laser combined with a Locust just makes for the most amazing crazy light action.

Second place: AC/10 Panther

BJ-3 (link)
Yes it's PPC meta and no, I don't care. This mech is fun, pure fun. Small, nimble and showing amazing quirks.

Second place: SPL Viper

RFL-LK (link)
I used to place my beloved CATs here,... but times change. The legend killer is the definition of a fun-build that performs decently. It shoots LBX rounds at an amazing rate and spread, is fast and has some awesome camo. The fire rate does make it a fairly hot build, But do try it out. You won't regret it.

Second place: Any Catapult

VTR-9S (link)
I don't like to play assaults, Truly, I even suck in Kodiaks,... so I tried to remember the last time I had good fun in an assault and came up with the Victor. This little loved light assault can still kick ****. Albeit very circumstantial,...
Spoiler

Second place: Quad LBX Mauler

My most favourite and enjoyable mech in any weight class:

Locust 1E - 6x SPL
The unmatched mobility combined with its close range low duration and low cooldown weaponry gives a very challenging but rewarding gameplay. Outmanoeuvring, outplaying the enemy, stalking, ambushing, play mind games etc. along with the risk to get one-shotted at any time makes piloting this little nightmare the most sensational of all.

Good topic.

Lights:. Honestly, since the great JJ nerf, there aren't any lights I really like anymore. I'll give Honorable mention to the Cicada, since it gives me that "KeKeKeKeKe" feeling in a bit tougher package.

Medium IS:. Yen-Lo-Wang. My most played Hero mech, and it just fits me like a glove.
Medium Clan:. HBK-IIC-A. 275XL with 2*LPL, 2*ERML, and a JJ or two. Just an insanely good second line machine, and the high mounts allow you to really abuse cover and deliver precise damage.

Heavy IS:. MAD-3R. 3*AC5S + 4*ML. Tanky as hell and has with the fantastic convergence, you've basically got a rapid fire Gauss rifle in the shoulder. Always good.
Clan Heavy:. Linebacker. It's not the most efficient Clan mech, but sprinting around at 104.5kph never gets old.

Assault IS:. Honestly, there's not an IS assault mech I enjoy driving anymore. They really feel like they've suffered the most in the new meta. Honorable mention S to the Awesome because it's so awesome, and the Atlas for being my main assault for the first 3 years in this game.
Assault Clan:. Spirit Bear. I've had more fun in this thing since I picked it up for cheap over Christmas. Basically run an Atlas-S build, but with a 400XL and MASC. It's so silly stupid fun sprinting at 90KPH to murderous targets. Fast, flexible, agile, and with enough armor, I just love this thing.

Lights: errr... nope

Mediums: SHD-2H (3x AC2, 1x MPL)
KTO-GB (5x LRM5, 2x MPL, AMS, TAG)

Heavies: not really playing much Heavies the last months, I guess some of my Marauders

Assaults: AWS-8R (4x ALRM15, 2x MLas, AMS, TAG)
HGN IIC - B (4x ALRM15, 2x LPL, AMS, BAP, TC1)
and my Marauder IIC collection (except the B variant, f that one, can't make it work)

Clan light - 5MPL ADR. My favorite light period.
IS light - Huggin.

Clan Medium - H2C with 4 UAC2
IS medium - SHD with Dakka

Clan Heavy - is still the EBJ with a variety of builds. Its not my best performing mech statistically among the heavies (PPC HBR has that distinction) but I still these mean looking sob's. I typically run with dakka and ML or SL 2
IS Heavy - WHM with twin PPC, or pulse builds

Clan Assault - 3 PPC M2C is my favorite assault ingame.
IS Assault - hmmmm toss up between having great matches in my VTR-9B periodically, the mini Altas Cyclops build and the Wubshee. Really more of a mood thing when it comes to IS assaults.
