Here's a challenge PGI. Prove me wrong.

I think that the sheer number of DC's in matches is significantly affecting the W/L likelihood of matches.

And that makes everything else pretty much a waste of fecking time.

Also:
The sheer number of ping.
The sheer number of skill.
The sheer number of AFKers.
The sheer number of good/bad luck in tactical decisions.
The sheer number of underperforming mechs.
The sheer number of non-optimal builds.
The sheer number of non-mastered Mechs.
The sheer number of equipped modules.

"Prove me wrong".

i dont think the dcs are as big an issue as people think they are. it sucks to be a man down but if these players cant figure out how to reconnect they are probibly useless noobs anyway.

still its disturbing how high the crash/dc rate is. between bugs and potato rigs i think the bugs are the bigger issue. pgi doesnt actively chase stability issues out of the engine like other game devs do.

Sheer number of Potato Plays
Discos fall under that, with them naturally dealing sub 200 damage.

Oh, I love getting the occasional "unexpected error".
It's a welcome change to the expected errors, graphic glitches and bad optimization.
Its randomness adds the required tension to the matches.

Oh and it usually "errors" when you are running towards the enemy team. Making it even more fun! Posted Image

Point taken ;P.

Reality can be cruel, though.

When i'm in your team, you know you're fugged. So no need to worry about dc's.
Just avoid me.

Well I usually contribute to the "non mastered mechs, since about 1/2 of my matches are me levelling a mech with no modules in.
I can control that. along with modules, etc

Skill I can theoretically control
Ping neither PGI nor I can control
Luck is luck.
AFK and DC are equivalent, but PGI can control that to some degree. AFK neither of us can.
For instance, why would I reconnect when it takes me over 2 minutes to reconnect, and if I do I'll get 0 out of it because I did nothing for too long?
I'm better off starting a new match.

Yea the whole 2 minute rule is too short it should be 3. Its a struggle to reboot in time and if ur nlt sure you made it you wont rejoin.

I was convinced until I read a few replies that we were talking about the DC atlas, and was struggling to find why the OP considered it so game changing, or common.

Why is your machine even rebooting? What's the root cause of the problem. Unexpected reboots are bad for your OS, you risk corrupting files in use e.g. MWOnline as well thus causing more problems. Even if it's just the one reboot my 8 year old PC never did that nor my new one. People need to fix gaming issues not use them as an excuse (sorry if this was too direct but last night games were utter garbage and someone gave this as a reason).

Yes I agree discons should always be allowed to rejoin as soon as they can, but repeated offenders should be counted and penalised into getting the problem fixed. It does have an affect on the team(unless it was another kamakazi pilot).

Discons or afk's don't affect matches as bad as retardatoes (which have far greater numbers). Again yesterday on a string of losses, all I wanted to do is level mechs or use something lower than a heavy mech. As usual that means I cannot carry like I normally do (which I dont even want to do), so everyone either splits and dies or thinks they can take out a whole team one by one. In tier 1 I cannot believe how many silly people are in it, I know there was a post the other day about it but I didnt believe it. The number of clueless people is pretty scary, I've even watched people throwing away a win.

In the UK we say Sunday drivers are the slowest, might be that way in this game as well.

I am more worried about my 200+ ms ping than those rare occasions when people DCs. It means many opponents shoot at me first, even if we both round the corner at the same time.
