They don't need to be necessarily potatoes

Six people on one team in every match aren't all having one-off "bad matches".

When there are six in every match for an entire day, they are almost certainly all potatoes.

Sometimes I need to play non-meta mechs to have some fun and than I score much lower (e.g. my in Ember).
There is no reason a non-meta Mech shouldn't be able to score more than 200 damage.

To be clear: I don't mind that potatoes exist. Everyone has to learn before they become good.

I do mind that I am being consistently dropped with six potatoes in what are supposed to be "Tier 1" matches. It's not fair to saddle experienced players that, so that we consistently lose, and can't level Mechs. Nor is it fair to the potatoes to be stomped by far superior enemy teams.

At the very least the matchmaker should be distributing the good players and the potatoes evenly. But it's not clearly not doing that, or the win:loss would be roughly equal and the matches would be a lot better than continual 2-12 stomps.

Apparently I am getting insta-dropped into predominately Tier 4 matches to "make up the numbers" instead of being given the opportunity for a decent match of Tier 1 players to be formed.

It's not sustainable. If PGI want to keep me as a customer, they need to get their matchmaking fixed to a basic level of competence.

You can have luck, better skill, or what ever. But it makes it more difficult than going with a non-meta mech against the meta. If someone, that scores about 300 to 400 damage on regular basis with a meta mech jumps into a non-meta mech, especially a bad one, it results in such sub 200 damage scores.

MM does that, however, the Tier calculation itself is off. Tier should be based on mech or at least mech class you play and on the average maybe 100 last matches. Tiers should be much more flexible than currently.

Next problem would be the score itself. LRM boats can score high but will fail against competent players in higher tiers. LRM boats are often better rated than they should, thus allowing LRM boat player to quickly raise in their tier.

I recently see more usage of LRMs in matches and I guess that is the reason.

If I remind right, some month ago there was even a post by PGI. They analyzed the Tiers from a 12:0 screenshot from a user that complained about the matchmaker. There was only a 1-Tier gap. The matchmaker distributed the Tiers evenly about two teams.

I often wonder what's going on with match maker. I wish it was more transparent in what it was doing in that long time it takes e.g. After the first 'x' time it takes to match tiers 1-3 and gives up, it should notify the person that its moving onto 1-4, then 1-5.

The reason this is kind of important is because it drives me up the wall when I see the last few men standing (sometimes untouched) and begin to admire their ability to stay alive. Only to see how they are shooting (or even worse, NOT shooting).

This was my favourite match today. The enemy had like 3 LRM boats and set up a firing line. Instead of walking around the base of the hill and getting at the LRM boats they stopped in front of the firing line and did...nothing. Well, at least nothin but getting lurmed. I mean, if one way is suicide, common sense dictate to look for another but not just sit there. But that is just what they did.

Telling them to follow me around the hill yieled nothing. At least I got to one LRM boat and killed it.

Look at those scores. There is no way you can compensate that. And yes, I have to admit that I pulled an "Appogee" (wink, wink) and steamed and called them potatoes. The guy on his Black Widow then made a fuss and wanted them to report me. 92 dmg rockz0r! Posted Image Well, I then knew it was time for a break and cool down haha Sorry, to the dudes for the potato calling while we are at it

At least the MM should distribute pota...I mean "people with restricted learning abilities and people who started the game recently" evenly.

I've just been matched with PORONOPAPOS again... I've been stomped by Gauss+PPC-sync-boats almost instantly. He is Tier 1 player, as I know. Difference between me and him in Leaderboard - is 16500 players.

Currently I drive full meta mechs to increase my PSR to Tier 1. It is .... boring. Sometimes I need to play non-meta mechs to have some fun and than I score much lower (e.g. my in Ember).

This is just an aside, but with your stats I'm surprised you're not Tier 1 by now. If you don't mind me asking how much would you say your PSR has moved since Season 1? Are you close to Tier 1 now?
