Getting into a good unit is pretty tricky. Here's a recipe that should work:
1. Make a meta drop deck (no NARC ravens)
2. Screenshot a few match scores with 2k+ damage (3k would be even better)
3. Pick a unit you like and go on their TS
4. Talk to people there and show them your screenshots
5. Politely ask if you can drop with them for a while
6. After you make some friends you'll be invited to the unit
Hope this helps, good luck

Crossed out the irrelevant stuff. Honestly right now most units will just take people that work as a team given the burnout/attrition the past 2 months now 4.1 has been realised for the flop it is.
In a good team match most players won't crack more than 1500dmg anyway. If you're a PUG against a team, you're gonna find it hard to crack 1500dmg unless you really know what you're doing.
I mean yeah I've got plenty of 2k+ dmg shots, but in reality it took me the better part of 6 months playing to get there. Learning maps, builds, positions & even how the enemy team *might* play to better setup for it. Even if a loadout is right or left torso hvy etc.
IMO just do the other stuff. Jump on a TS (or discord), drop with the unit (most are A-OK with that) and see if their play style is a fit for you. KCOM/D'C/HHoD/MS & Star League hub are all usually welcome places for anyone willing to work as a team for drops in US cycle.
If I'm running drops (usually Oceanic which rules most out) then as most know - I'll invite people over to our TS once we lobby up however like the other units. Gotta drop with us first make sure it's a good fit etc. Most already have units in Oceanic, so it's kinda irrelevant.

Or better yet, your unit members TK/suicide in a match - get called out for it - pile of uneducated unit members come in to accuse said person of lying about it (lol, why would anyone?).
Yet not even 24hrs later, said T5-TK'ing unit member (stupidly) posts up in the forum post up confirming the claim is valid & it was "his teams fault cause they didn't push". Yeah, if my team didn't push a bad position I'd help them out by killing them too - ya know?
Great team player attitude that one.
The best part though came at the end. Lodge a complaint to moderators to have the thread removed (due to its units members highly derailing it with false accusations) to then cover up the evidence of potato.
Very bad troll level. One might say, troll level noob?
