Meh don't see much in the Assassin, probably to Clannish to understand, would take the Griffin IIC any time but that's my 2 cents.

Just another ugly Light/Medium 'Mech? Nothing good about it. And Supernova is great though. Would buy it, if this game wouldn't be so terribly broken.

I didn't like it in TT. It was sorta just there. It didn't do anything a Timby couldn't do. I basically used it to fill up a drop ship when I needed a big mech on a lighter weight.

It's still gonna be the standard Timby build on a bigger heavier chassis that the Direwhale and Night Gyr do better.

The Assassin is a cool looking Humanoid design. I like it for that. I am still nervous about the combination of it's weight and size/shape. Even 45 ton Mediums are fragile (let alone a 40 ton design like this), and if it is closer to a light in size, lights are still known to be a bit big (humanoid ones at least).

We will see how it plays out, but I think the Assassin will be a mech for the pilot who wants a tough challenge. It won't be for the faint of heart.

Well you could always load it up with PPC's and work on ones ability to aim.... Not saying that you can't aim Winter, just a lot of pilots can't seem to figure out how to lead a target I find...

Lots of cERPPC's is counterproductive, though. Too much heat for damage done.

In a fast bouncy mech, it's workable (see: quirked thor with nippeeps) but the Supernova is neither fast not bouncy. Can't push enough damage with ERPPC's to be worth that on an assault chassis. That's where the ballistics come in - then you can push up more damage with low heat ballistics alongside the ERPPC's. Just ERPPC's, though? And once you're bringing lasers, you may as well just run lasers =/

Only Clan Assault mech I run is my WHK-PRIME, she forced me to get good with PPC early when I started... now I can't bring myself to not use PPC's when I get a chance to.

I will admit, I bought the Supernova because of fond memories of MW3, and because I could either resist Alex's model nor the galaxy paintjob on the special Yes, it's plodding and wide and porky and won't insta-detonate on an alpha strike like the MW3 version did, but I'll have fun with it regardless - meta-hugging aside, it's hard not to have fun in an Assault loaded to the brim with large lasers.

However, Bishop is right. Next the Assassin will come, one of my all-time favourite medium IS 'Mechs since forever for inexplicable and unsettling reasons. It's lightly armed and in canon the cockpit design was so bad that pilots would end up with serious back problems for life, but...Iunno. It just clicked with me back when. Expect to see me limping about with a big grin when it drops. That sounded wrong.

40 tons is Medium.... or are 55 tonners secretly Heavies waiting for a growth spurt? Light Mechs are for people who need lagshield and crutches (shots fired! But thanks to hitreg, none register!). Whereas a good Medium is notable for always epitomizing the worst of all weight classes.

I'm an out-and-proud light pilot, but Bishop fancies himself a medium jock and I'm just saying that if he's that keen on the Assassin, his "orientation" is somewhat suspect.

LOL. Simulpost shenanigans, too. IFRs, CDAs, VPRs, ASNs...they play more like lights. "Beards" if you will.

(Not all about tonnage, there are pseudo medium lights too)
