I was surprised how small the mech looked on the battlefield, compared to the other assaults Marauder IIC or even heavies like the timberwolf (but i would love a comparison of frontal shots of it with different mechs).
Tried googling for some, but found only one pic and that was against a different mech.

THANK YOU! =D
Wow there is almost no difference in height, i had a feeling it was like that ^^
It's noticeably different when piloting it, the Madcat tops out right around the middle of the center manifold of the Supernova, add in the cockpit being on top of the Supernova and you'll definitely feel like you're piloting a tall mech.

True, must be a lot harder aiming with its low slung arms like that.

and hence your issue.... it may indeed have a smaller frontal profile (haven't actually compared) but it's a 3D model with plenty of depth.
We ain't shooting at b27 practice targets here... mechs ain't 2D.

I just imagined them being a bit bigger, thats one. The frontal comparison is pretty telling. Its like a slim waisted direwolf more like (not a lot taller then a timber). Pointy shoulders but very narrow hips (narrower then timberwolf). This makes for an interesting design since it might even let it get around better due to legs being more together (on canyon for instance).

Indeed, though probably a bigger point of comparison for terrain collisions would be hos wide it's arms jut out. If those are actually narrower, that would indeed be a boon.
