Well lets start with a time line:

- December before Mech Con, NGNG said there would be a Town Hall some time right after Mech Con. (Never happened)

- At the beginning of January Russ tweeted there would be a Town Hall. (Never happened)

- The next week after Russ's Tweet, Russ changed it to a Round Table about Faction Warfare.

- February is coming to a close ... we have had a PTS over the New Skill Tree "Mech Upgrade Tree". We have had new announcement with the next PTS of engines for mechs being reworked in correlation to agility.

So I ask should there be a Town Hall to ask some questions about the patch coming in March? This patch is tentatively going to have a new Skill Tree "Mech Upgrade Tree", Engines being re-worked, and there are suppose to be other topics (Assault Game Mode Revamp, Continued Faction Play updates, Mech IK, and mech package purchasing changes).

As for my opinion I would like to see a Town Hall to hopefully cover some of these topics at least. But in the mean time PGI has at least done a decent job with giving information about the PTS for the new skill tree.

I always like hearing the town halls. I like when Russ tells us why they picked one direction over another.

I would like to hear some new information on the new tech and when its coming.

Really like to know whats going on with cw as its almost dead again.

I would say yes in regards to march mechs and new tech. But as for the skill trees. They've listened to our feedback and are rolling out an update hopefully this weekend. At this point asking them questions about the skill tree wouldn't be worth much. And they very clearly intend to roll it out.

I really want to know what new tech we're getting. Are they just gonna give us what the IS lacks, UACs up to 20, S-SRMs up to 6, and such? I want to see all the stuff that'll really make the game interesting.

Theres no point in town halls when they wont even acknowledge their FP/CW mode has game breaking bugs that destroy your mechs legs before you get out of the dropship.

I used to love Town Halls, because I felt they really helped create a sense of good will between PGI and the community. It was easier to understand PGI's choice of directions when they could explain them vocally. Seeing someone's face and hearing them talk about stuff helps create a bit of sympathy and understanding.

But now, they don't do so much for me anymore. I don't feel as if there are many questions left unanswered. The only thing that comes to mind is the next big project after the Skill trees. Presumably, this will not be PVE anymore because they're making MW5. It could be Solaris. It could also be that the next big thing is 3060-tech, which means... there really is no next big thing, strictly speaking.

It would be interesting to hear Russ talk about 3060-tech, but I don't imagine he's going to want to say too much about it. Maybe he would explain what weapons we can expect to see, and why he didn't want to include stealth armour, mines, Arrow IV, etc.

But a traditional Town Hall as in 'Let's have Russ answer a bunch of questions from "the community" and then announce a new mech pack' is not something I'm holding my breath for, personally.

Triggering.

Why do we need a Town Hall? Just because Russ has repeatedly said there would be one?
Well, in that case, I am certain there will be one soon, or perhaps within the next 90 days. Posted Image

Undoubtedly the town hall could be be a wonderful exchange of ideas and information where Russ engages the customers and players in a professional and open manner. Perhaps he might even thank the players for their continued support through this constant beta experience of the last year. He may even give a nice exposition on the vision and goals of the company and game to help us understand the seemingly nonstop nerf passes over the last year.

Or maybe not. Maybe history will be better guide?

Perhaps at the town hall he would do what he does at nearly every town hall over the last year:
Namely, give broad non-informative hints at a potential future like saying Solaris is coming soon if they can get replay to work, or that they are "working" on inverse kinematics but who knows when that will come to fruition (May/June). Perhaps he will take questions only when filtered through the NGNG guys, and only when those questions are the most innocuous or irrelevant questions possible to the state of the game (every town hall ever). Perhaps he will just say screw it and tell us to stop giving him suggestions and asking for more info because this is his game and he knows best on how to make it and that you should just shut up and say thank you for his even making it in the first place (April). Or maybe he will just get wasted (March).

See, cuz maybe a town hall would be useful, but the ones I've listened to over the last year have been pretty much a waste of time, if not out right infuriating.

When NGNG sticks to playing and commenting on game play they are acceptable.

When hosting town halls, they are PGIs sock puppets. The lips move but all that comes out is whatever they've been instructed to bring up. Not a surprise, since they are paid by PGI, but I'm often still surprised to hear some people thinking they are neutral and unbiased.

They are paid to do a job, and that's what they do.

Meh.

THs here tend to be all fluff, no stuff, so why bother?

Get NGNG out of the way so people can actually push the tough questions, and then maybe, I'd care.

Get real. The pod casts are not different than Star Citizens pod casts.

As to another comment in this topic, why should this game under go trolling from pro trolls in the pod casts when Star Citizen doesn't?

Not to mentioned Star Citizen spend a large part of its budget managing player expectations to near nothing/managable levels, while this game doesn't spend as much doing that, maybe next to nothing.

The topic twisters on this forum really are off the leash.

Those NGNG guys help with testing and all sorts of thing. I can tell because of the piloting of the new mechs they are practiced and not just playing them for the first time.

Yet they get trolled because they are not Star Citizen marketing? Putting out 100's of commercials/podcasts blowing tons of money.

Now don't get me wrong I like watching Star Citizens videos and although the game isn't going anywhere fast I do hope its going to be a great game some day far into the future. Posted Image

Should they fire NGNG and hire this girl from Star Citizen so MechWarrior Online podcasts don't get trolled as bad? I am on the fence about it. Posted Image

Fire NGNG and hire Lucy from Gamespot? For sure. Posted Image Bye bye Phil and Darren sorry but Lucy is way hotter then either of you and these MechWarrior Online trolls don't like dudes doing the talking much. Posted Image

Town Falls are pointless...

Russ just fumbles with his words for an hour and cherry picks questions.

We can do without them, spending that time on development of ANYTHING is a 1000% better use of that time. But they wont do that either.

I swear to Doctor Phil, Clownwarlord, that every other thread you make is about a Town Hall.

You have an unhealthy obsession over something that provides so little insight or utility.

So, because the podcasts are the same as Star Citizens paid podcasts, it's OK? Certainly there's nothing wrong with NGNG podcasts promoting the game. Unless they mislead you into thinking that they are independent and unaffiliated with the game they are commenting on. This was how they operated initially, then they quietly got "absorbed" by PGI, and for some time kept that bit of information on the down low.

The point I was making is that NGNG is not in any form or manner an independent, free to say what they want podcast. That's it, that's not trolling, that's the truth. Their podcast and pretty much anything they say should be filtered through the knowledge that PGI pays their bills.

If you want unbiased information on the game, you don't go to the guys that are PAID to promote it. You take the time to sort through the dross and get information from other sources that are not simply the public relations department of PGI. That's true for any game, including Star Citzen or Candy Crush.
