It looks good, is perfectly serviceable in pugland and has a cool-sounding warhorn. Not as good as the KDK-3, but what is? I'm rubbish in assaults, but I have my best results with a wub-supernova, actually better than my results in the KDK or Marauder IIC. Go figure. Not a bad addition to the game.

To Supernova Or Not To Supernova

Finally got a new vid card today and decided to take the 'ole stompy robot game out for a spin, since I can actually somewhat see and hit mechs now....first game in my trusty Warhawk Prime was slightly over 1k damage....Good stuff...but I bumped into a supernova on the enemy team.
We are both long range spec. mechs. but he should have the advantage since he can pinpoint burn off sections of my mech...but...I absolutely mopped the floor with him. And nearly everyone ive seen discussing it say its either too hot or too slow. I really wanted to get one for Nostalgia sake as that was My BABY in Mecwarrior 4 Mercs but....I dont exactly want to pay for another mech that will be a hanger queen, Like my sucklander IIC's (inb4 its a great mech with LRMS....I didnt buy them to boat LRMS) Or my Orion IIC's.
What are your thoughts guys? any builds NOT revolving around LRMS that you have seen play decently? I intended to run my 'Nova-1 Super stock with an XL325 and as many sinks as I can cram. But it doesnt seem like clan ER-Larges lend themselves well to boating like IS Large lasers do.

The majority of choices are mixes of ER Meds or ER-L, my preferences are pulse lasers. Considering how slow this bugger is and it's lack of maneuverability, range builds are the only option. Gaus and Peeps or LPL seems to be the winning combo.
LPL and streaks are not bad either if you tweak them for range, you'll have to be in range to make use of them of course.

Marauder2c is better than the Supernova in almost every way do not buy this mech with cbills or Mc or cash.

I just played around in smurfy, and it says that the SNV-1 variant can rock 6 x LPL with 31% cooling efficiency.. 30%+ is usally good enough for me in-game, so yeah..
At speed 56,7km/h, its a bit slow (CLAN XL315), but still faster than a Direwolf..
So I call this mech "Direwolf equivalent"..
The Direwolf can rock the same loadout with cooling at 35% efficiency, but can't put in a bigger engine so is a slug at only 48 Km/h..
So it's like a faster direwolf..
Probably not the best Clan assault, or event top-tier, but could be fun.. especially in the long-range meta we have now..

I Supernova'd, and I regret nothing. After tweaking the (S) a bit (XL 300, max armour, 2 extra heatsinks), I've been having a blast. Not much of a brawler, but with a bit of care those 6 ER LL's are easy to manage and make for lots of lopped-off limbs and reliable heavy damage per match. The Boiler hero variant is basically a King Crab on meth, and the A is great for players who like missiles. It looks and 'feels' good too. Is it as meta as the KDK or MAD IIC? Heck no. Is it fun? Heck yes
