Seriously, just make that game. I want to feel like a mech again, in an interstellar war.

I still play it from time to time in the old graphics. I really don't care if a game is old as long as it looks good enough to know what's going on.

After I win powerball, buy the rights from PGI, and make a proper game.

You, do realise that's basically what Mechwarrior 5 is going to be right? It's another Mechwarrior Mercs game, where salvage, and chassis differences will matter, if PGI stick to what they had said, the mechlab will be a bit more locked down, keeping in universe flavor with the IS tech of the time 3025 era [extending up to 3049/50]. But you'll be taking contracts, and fighting it out in a much more fleshed out setting.

At least that's the hope, what little I saw of their tech demo, gives me hope.

I do not have the solution, and I hate saying anything negative when I do not have something concrete to present. But it should be said even if its not something I think affects me personally.

One thing is not like the other.

If MW5 was moddable, it should be fairly easy to just recreate all the campaigns from MW2, MW3 and MW4, using the old voice acting and soundtracks.

How glorious would that be?

Of course, I don't expect MW5 to actually be moddable.

Yeah, cuz modding doesnt add insane amounts of replay value or anything.

Is mW5 gunna be strictly SP? Or will it also have coop and stuff? Coop, 4 man team out playing the campaign. Can you imagine how fun that actually would be?

According to PGI's announcement it will be "A singleplayer Experience"

Single player by announcements but details aren't finalized. I doubt it will be co-op though, and honestly I'm okay with that. I would rather have a good single player Mechwarrior campaign game again with no frills or shoehorned features than a lackluster title that tried to appease people with unnecessary things.

You'd be better off pushing for 'co-op scenarios' for MWO than co-op for MW5, and personally I'd prefer that as the groundwork for the multiplayer is already there including the party system, online framework, and even a way to integrate the scenarios into the game and its economy. (i.e. PVE scenarios still net you CBills and such but at a lower amount like other F2P online titles which prevent you from just farming them for your ingame cash.)

I'd prefer MW2 remastered
Without spherical hitboxes, preferably. Let me farm those faces!

Do you actually know how the hitboxes work in MW2? I've been extremely puzzled by the damage modeling in that game, just picking up recently for the first time in 20 years.

You can just mod mwo on steam and make it yourself with the workshop. Mwo is on steam or so they said.

That...isn't how that works. PGI has to enable workshop support, for starters...

Not exactly
I think it was secondhand info saying that they're overlapping hitboxes, and not exactly to their form either, but overlapping spheres, for a simplified example.

Was it Blastman who told me that? He's got a tutorial for getting it working in one of the Forum sections.

Aye, the hitboxes overlap--they're bounding spheres, well, ovals, mostly.

MechWarrior 4 was pretty good but was a step in the wrong direction by Microsoft after MechWarrior 3's glory, but MWO is like a 3rd cousin in a 2nd marriage compared to MechWarrior 4.

;P

It was terrible, really, shooting through terrain and uber god snipers--hell, I don't miss any of that. Bored the piss out of me, it did.

MW4 also had uber god LBX for brawlers...

I don't remember shooting through terrain.

I don't think it's fair to say that the entire game as a whole was bad just because of a bug and some multiplayer cheesing (which was mostly in no heat unlimited ammo 3PV servers).
