Am I the only one that would drive a tank in this game?

Now if they were to(which they never will) put tanks in the game I would say that tank would actually get a re-spawn to compensate for their lesser battle value.
I personally would drop first in a Patton followed by a Rommel for it's short range punch.

Why would tanks get a respawn? Fully kitted out a tank is more than a match for mechs in shooty shooty, and since MWO doesn't have melee mechanics at all, tanks would actually be BETTER than mechs here.

Tanks just wouldn't be fair. Seriously, I'd have to rate tanks higher than Mechs by a wide margin, as in Heavy tanks would be a match for an Assault Mech. God help you if you stumble across an Assault tank, because you'd just get stomped.

The only things that would compete would be Lights and some Mediums, by virtue of being fast.

Look at the 90t Challenger for example:
1x Gauss Rifle (2 tons, turret)
1x LB-10X (2 tons, turret)
1x LRM-10 (2 tons, turret)
2x SSRM-2 (hull, side)
2x MPL (hull, front)
1x SPL (hull, rear)
14 tons Ferro armor
270 XL
54kph

Or the 100t Behemoth:
2x AC/10 (turret)
4x LRM-5 (fixed hull, front)
2x SRM-6 (turret)
2x SRM-4 (casemate turret, hull, front)
2x SRM-4 (turret mounted ball turrets, 1 each)
4x MG (2 in each ball turret)
Unknown armor tonnage
GM R200 ICE
32kph

Oh, and then there's this monstrosity:
1x AC/20 (turret, "generous" ammunition stores)

No you're not the only one. Though against mechs in CQB they don't stand as much of a chance. They're not likely to ever be in this game. I don't see PGI going through the effort and rebalancing everything to do this since it would open the door for Battle Armour and VTOLS. I recommend trying MW:LL. I have a load of fun picking off light mechs in Ares Medium tank

There you can play Demolishers, Ares, or even a Harassers to your hearts content and ambush mechs all day long.

I dunno about that. There were several times I was running around in a light mech and came across a Demolisher or even a Hover tank that really put the wreck on my mech. One time I had a Harasser with RAC/5's or AC/2's hose me down at long range and I could not retreat from the open valley in time and with no cover I had to bail.

At other times, the versatility of the mech helps since the tanks can't elevate their guns to compete with the mech. Once you wreck the turret even a Demolisher has a hard time killing Battle Armour.

I mean who doesn't like tanks.
From a population perspective it would be fantastic.

Battle Armor don't have enough tonnage to mount a Narc launcher, and even getting a TAG on them is fairly hard.

Older MW games strongly exaggerated the capabilities of BA by literally programming them as tiny protomechs.

I'll take a Medium pack with a Hetzer and Predator; a Heavy pack with the Rommel, Patton, Zhukov, Typhoon, and Von Luckner; and an Assault pack with the Behemoth, Challenger, Demolisher, and Ontos.

Said pack could be one or more of any of those vehicles and I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

Mobility, tanks would lack mobility against most mechs plus mechs will have greater speed over rough or broken ground. Now add jump jets and the Nerf herders will cry something like, "not fair that arctic cheater just killed my whole lance nerf those dang op jump jets now because they are unfair to tanks and make mechs to OP!!!" yup can see the love now Posted Image not saying tanks would not have a place in a mwo game, heck I use to deploy all kinds of armor units on the table top battletech days. 12 vs 12 no it would be to painful but something like planetside 2 setup with 100's vs 100's battles going on all the time then yes that would be so epic to drop into a war with a 1000 or more players but the wife would hate pgi ever more Posted Image

I would love them, but I think realistically there's ~zero chance that MWO will get them. I think all you should expect at this point are relatively minor, iterative improvements to MWO.

Thinking ahead, maybe if they do an "MWO 2" based on the MW5:M engine? The tanks are right there in the MW5:M trailer.

Hmm, I didn't know about that little guy before.

One shot though kind of hampers it... The Sarna page also says that it restricted the mobility of the Purifier BA that mounted it.

Well, each BA in a squad has one, so for a squad of 6 Purifiers that is 6 shots. Heavier Battle Armor can have more than one NARC launcher too; it is likely possible for a BA to be designed with 4 of them.

IIRC, it is counted as a missile launcher, and Inner Sphere BA can't use jumpjets if they have a missile launcher with ammo; once they use all the ammo the missile launcher is automatically discarded, allowing jump movement.

Yes I'm aware of that. However in MW:LL they certainly do have NARC grenades and C4 Blasting blocks as well as a TAG laser. It makes them very effective at helping call in Arrow IV and LRM fire, and not completely useless in close quarters with mechs and tanks.
