Quick question from a returning player.
With the way the mechs control, i thought it would be pretty cool to have my little boy control the mouse (and do all the exciting shooty bits) while I control movement and throttle. End result, many high fives!
So, is there an option for a littke mini screen in screen that shows the mech's facing so i dont have to try and navigate via map alone?
Ta much!

Unfortunately there is no method to do this which uses a single computer. Your idea is very similar to two player mode on the SNES version of Mechwarrior 3050 where one side controls the legs and the other controls the body and weapons. Actually it's about identical.
This said you can also use his control of the torso to help you navigate as well, thanks to that giant arrow showing your heading and more importantly, the occasional use of the C and F keys (center torso to legs and center legs to torso).
To make controlling the mech easier for two people, might I suggest a cheap throttle stick? You can fit almost all the buttons under one hand and have an easier time sharing the desk space. Its existence might even make navigating appealing enough for your son to try while you take a fair turn doing the shooty bits.

I would suggest then taking a mech with a jump jet. The added benefit of being able to jump when accidentally hitting rough terrain helps keep ya'll from getting stuck sometimes.
But yeah, good luck with that.
