as a die hard IS player.. I can't believe i'm going to say this,,. But with the flexiblity of the mechs, Your first mech should probably be a Timber wolf, Stormcrow, or possibly a hellbringer.

they all can really fun any weapon system and are good solid mechs for first timers, to play around and learn. pick one up, use that extra cash to buy extra omni-pods and weapons and play around with um for 100 matches or so.. they are all good enough, that they don't need quirks.

They are all mobile, have decent hit boxes, and survivalist. very good first mechs. I've always said get 3 HBK's because of cost, but the new leveling system coming soon and only needing one mech, it is very hard for me to recommend anything else. Just to much flexibility for your starter cash bonus. By one of these, and by the time you learn the game and what you like, you should have banked a good 40-50m..

Good luck!

Before you build anything in mechwarrior you should look up different builds in mechspecs.com and design that mech in smurfy.me mechlab. Refrain from doing anything else unless your proficient in building mechs.

I'm not the kind of guy who will take a ready made build. I'm more of an experimenter.
