Took out one of my mechs that I haven't used in a while. The rifleman. It has long forward gun barrels on the arms that stick out into your field of view.

And I noticed that my cockpit swayed as I moved but my arms were always stationary. It just looked and felt wierd.

How hard is it to make arms move with the cockpit on a mech anyway PGI ?

All mechs' arms are like that though

And it is something that would probably happen within the context of mechs

If the arms moved all over the place they'd be inaccurate as ****

PGI can still sway the mechs' arms while keeping the end point + reticule stay at the same spot. Won't take too much effort, and can improve immersion. In that tank gif, only the barrel's end point is staying at same level.

But they aren't...and it also affects torso hard-points.

i want to say that the mech cockpits are on shock absorbers or some kind of motion damping system. for hints to this, look to the non windowed side of the grasshopper and see springs there. it makes sense. a mech walking is very jarring and would be highly disorienting. so damping the motion of the mech from the pilots point of view would be a must. would also protect against impact shocks, falls, weapon impacts, collisions with terrain, etc, as well as to lessen the effects of motion sickness on the pilots. so some level of active and passive systems would be employed to do this. like:

The dwf arms feels like they bob up and down excessively. But that would be primarily relative to the torso block bobbing and stays stationary as it walks
