I know, there are not enough threads like this one...
But still, when we had that contest craze going on, CK16's in particular, and I was looking for a mech that
A) fit within timeline

B)Looks cool and had some unique offerings

C) has good aesthetics / looks mean

For some reason or another I kept coming back and looking at this
http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Great_Wyrm

One shortfall off the bat, is the variants, only 3 total ; one of em being a hero.
The other being that production ceased, but what does that really mean. Like what does that REALLY mean?Posted Image

I don't know, not super serious and not a "please put this in the game", but more of a "Is this, or would this be a potentially good chassis", plus do we need a 45 ton clam (other than the scat)?

Extra Content:
With 65 tons being my comfortable niche, I find this sumptuous - 13 1/2 frickin tons of armor! and jjs

Thoughts?

I brought this mech up before. Most of it's problems stem from the fact that it is basically a 45 ton Clan Dragon.

but it looks so cool, I think. Like the whole front visor shield look.

That's not to say, that maybe the Clan got the Dragon right, because the Inner Sphere sure as hell didn'tPosted Image

Yes, yes it is, but it is different from the Shadow Cat... solely because she is a battlemech, not an Omnimech... That means that with the current build system in MWO, the Great Wyrm would likely be better over all... Besides, the Clans need more low end weight mechs....

But that doesn't eliminate the fact that it is still, for better or for worse, an underfed Dragon.

"Different" doesn't necessarily mean "better". Most likely, the Cat would still be better because of Highmounts, ECM, JJs, and MASC.

Depending on the RA position, the Wyrm could be better, as cockpit (or slightly below) level is ideal. When looking at the art work for the Wyrm, all the hard points are clustered around the cockpit, that's very, very good.

It also looks like the side profile would be thin, again not a bad thing, she also lacks the Dragon nose, also a good thing... I don;t know it actually looks like it would be more meta than the Shadow Cat by a good margin... Depending on engine cap, it could be anywhere from 270 (like the Shadow Cat) to a 315, depending if they use 1.2 or 1.4 for the modifier for it.

Except, it runs a standard so some weight savings if bumped to an XL, is a battlemech - so all sorts of armor weight saving possibilities, has all energy in the torso, high ballistic mounts - could run a UAC10 with little to no problem. ECM is fun, but over rated.
Again to clarify - I just think this is a cool looking mech, has a cool name, and in terms of this and the SCAT - This has MUCH more potential.

A 315 would put it in at over 121 kph. It would likely have a lower cap tho, along the 1.2.
