1. Running an XL in KGC.
2. Chasing the Squirrel. Never chase after a light in anything heavier than a medium.

While it may challenge you to fight a Light in an Assault it is not a challenge for the Light - unless he/she is a spud.
As a Light driver, your Crab is an easy target. Moreso if I can get you separated from the pack. As a Light driver, my job is to fight you on MY terms and not yours. If I can dictate how, where, and when the engagement is to take place, I will win.
You want to stop me from giggling manically while I circle-strafe you, do not get separated from others. Don't chase me. If you do, know I am leading you to your death.
Best way for you, or any pilot, to know how to beat a type of weight class is to play it.
For aspiring Light drivers there are two things you must overcome and it is not easy; one is tunnel vision. You get so focused on your target your situational awareness lapses. That leads to more death for the pilot then anything. Second is to know when to disengage.

Also, remember that many Light Mechs carry ECM. You may think you are chasing a squirrel, but the squirrel may be deliberately leading you to his lance mates hiding under ECM coverage. Your KGC is likely to die 1v1 against a light mech if the opponent is decent. Your KGC will certainly die in 1v4 light mechs, even if they are (like me) not very good.

Response: But I love chasing locusts in my KC...
Something tells me you are not really interested in the advice that you claim to want in the thread title.

True. However, ECM can be dead giveaway. If your sneaking up on a target and you have ECM, the Low Signal will give you away, IF the enemy is aware enough to notice and the ECM is not switched.
Good deal of factors to consider for the Light.
