Magazines. No.
No, we don't want fuel canisters for flamers either.

Which is why I will never understand the use of external weapon systems like what the Battlemaster and the Executioner have going for them. Hand held weapons that are being held visibly by the mech. What is the point besides muh big cool guns?

The Battlemaster, in the lore, can drop the PPC and go full melee. Hanse Davion did that at one point. It also happened to Alex Carlyle during a simulation battle in the Gray Death Saga novel Tactics of Duty.
Also, pretty sure the Executioner is not holding those lasers. Pretty sure they're extending out from the underside of the forearm.

We already habe burst damage in clan uacs...Or jams for that matter.
And it will just lead to players hiding behind cover unloading
clip and goung back in cover. Even more than we do now.
Silly idea is silly.

Maybe the mech walks to the air-drop powers down and is slowly rearmed by [insert thing]. It will basically double the damage potential of mechs that are entirely ammo dependent - if they survive rearming.

In some cases, yes. The Rifleman is a good example of the ammo bin. However, mechs like the Zeus get ammunition in cylindrical cassettes like a revolver pistol. The Gray Death Saga novel Operation Excalibur refers to this a few times.
