Every time I come back to this I still get a headache. It's so bulky and not geared to straight up what you need or want.
Example:
Hey I want medium lasers-> equipped medium laser-> check
Need more medium laser range-> went skill tree and got range-> and cool down-> and velocity->and duration-> and heat reduction-> check
Okay getting LRM to death, need radar deprivation....OMG...I just don't want to be shot by LRM's when I get behind cover....why do I need all this other stuff?
Serious a tree works like this; you a trunk (mech) a branch (specific skill) and everything on that branch is the same, simple.
I really think that the cost and skills are not the issue, but being hell bent on applying a Final Fantasy style skill Chinese Checker board is pretty annoying. Please let me pick down the options I want.
Suggestion:
Base Skills (Straight Down):
Range 1,2,3,4,5
Cooldown 1,2,3,4,5
Heat Reduction 1,2,3,4,5
Radar Deprivation 1,2,3,4,5
Advanced (Completing Two Complimentary Branches):
Heat Reduction + Cooldown ->Extra Missile per Ton, +10% Damage, etc
Sensor Range + Target Gathering -> 360 target retention, etc
You could have lots of fun with this.
Hope you see this and think about this style.
Thanks,
