There is the gold timberwolf, which has a special camo and a (G) at the end, as well as a cbill/xp bonus I think. These were initially sold for quite a high sum to promote the launch of the clan mechs. I think the timberwolves were the first to sell out of them, and afaik only 2-3 of the other chassis sold out of those.

The champion wolf is not a unique variant, per se, it is exactly the same as a normal one except it gives something like a 10% experience boost when using it.

So, the Champion is not a unique variant, just an XP boosted version of the C variant.

There are only Six unique Versions, and everything else can be built offa 'em.

looks really sweet! pity its 1. sold out and 2. exceedingly expensive...

thanks for the clarification on the Champion mech...
i guess its somewhat unique in that it gives chassis boost to XP, can only be bought with real money, and has a designation (C)...
although i agree you can basically build the thing yourself...

no other editions yes? hope they do more special ones in the future.. absolutely love em!

There is also the TBR-C(S) which has the exact same default loadout as the TBR-C(C) except it has a +30% Cbills bonus instead of the +30% XP bonus that the Champion got.

The TBR-C(S) came from the Steam Heavy 'Mech Performance Pack, which is no longer on sale, as it has been replaced by the Steam Heavy Performance Pack II (http://store.steampo...com/app/545742/).

So as with the (G) you can't get it anymore, but you might see it in game :)

the TBR-Prime(I) and TBR-Prime(G) are functionaly identical to the TBR-Prime, the only diferances are the paint job and the 30% cbill bonus (and the fact that the (G) far more attemtion than any regular cammo versions)

edit:
any letter in brackets varient is the same as the regular varient but with bonus earnings (XP for the (C) Mechs and the JR7-D(S), Cbills for everything else) and sometimes a paint job and some unique geomatry on the Mech

Invasion paint is lame. IMHO $20 for one boosted variant beats $55 for one boosted and two redundant chassis. Warrant > Prime(I) ala carte.

Do you have any your cadet bonus left? Fifteen million is not an unreachable goal.

yeah i collected all the cadet bonus on premium time and i didnt spend any until i finished all 25 missions
ended up with like 19 mil

I ended up splurging real money on the Champion and the Hero for the chassis bonuses
you're right... $55 to collect a paint job seems abit much...

Warrant is the best value. You at least get unique omni pods.
Though as a whole I tend to favor models with an energy hardpoint in the CT

Steam counts itself as champion but credits as hero.

Just buy the paint if you bought a champion. No point in buying champions anyway.

Invasion and gold, and hero are only truly unique appearances. Geometry on gold and invasion. Paintjob on hero.

Physical shape.

For instance, a standard Atlas. Note the head. Sad eyes.

Loyalty Atlas AS7-S with unique geometry. Note the head. Angry eye, Terminator face.
Posted Image

A founder's Atlas with unique geometry.

Understand?

This said, the "(I) and (G)" versions of the Prime have curvier lower bodies.

Note the legs?

Also: I'm the mechs going by those black, green and yellow colors if you go peering at Clan mechs in Lordred's perfect screenshot thread.

Wait, I still don't see it. It just looks like the paint jobs emphasize different elements of the geometry.

EDIT: However I do see those scaffold-like structures on the arms of the (I) variant.

There are rails (or whatever it's supposed to be) on it's arms.

Correct.

Using the Polygon pattern and Titanium White for all 3 color channels.
Posted Image
On the left is Invasion. On the right is standard.
The areas that are uniquely "Black" on the Invasion model are 'unique' pieces of geometry. It isn't much, but it is curvier.

On the concept art it stood out a lot more because there was a fair bit more 'unique' about them.

Another good example is the Stormcrow, the typical model has pincher hands. The Invasion model has "Terminator" hands.

(Also, obviously I didn't mirror their builds. Wasn't worth the cbill cost, also different variant's CT hardpoint would have been an issue.)

Given its exclusivity to the Invasion set, you can either collect the Invasion set to get the most out of your buck, or go the A la Carte method.

Will say getting an Invasion model either way is ~Much~ cheaper than the "Gold option" that PGI's then publisher Infinite Games Publishing contrived (including its price tag of 500 USD). As you can imagine, despite the fact that it sold out it wasn't well received by the community. (Even as a collector's model and to be viewed as a 'donation' to help the game, at the time due to [as PGI put it] the stiffling nature of the publisher the game had made almost no developmental progress for over a year and IGP's other mech-related project went belly up soon after... the whole thing wasn't looked on with much light. On the positive note, those with gold mechs are super rare.)

Anyway, the Invasion Timber is basically a 30% cbill bonus with a unique look. Though what does make it worth while, whether it's 30 bucks for it (through buying "all" the Invasion wave 1) or 55 (A La Carte), you do still get two additional variants that you won't have to buy for cbills. So there is that.

I'm just sad that the "Collectors" edition mechs being released as of late aren't doing the unique geometry. Nothing would stop me from snatching them up if they did.

....But they stopped.

I still plan to get the Ebon Jaguar...

God I love the Cauldron Born and while I'm not thrilled that it has a pelvis in MWO's version or that its huge compared to the source material (as is everything in MWO), it is still a hot little number. And the Invasion model is beefier around the face.
