In my opinion, there needs to be two primary changes to the new skill tree system for me (and a lot of other people) to be on-board:

1. Make the c-bill and xp cost for skill nodes on multiple variants of the same chassis a significantly reduced amount. This would:
  • Encourage the purchase of additional mechs and make mech packs a reasonable purchase.
  • Reduce the grievance of players with large stables of mechs regarding the cost to "re-master" their mechs, since many of their mechs would be chassis variants and therefore less expensive to skill up.
  • Improve mech variability in the game as more mechs would be used and skilled up.
  • Improve experimentation on lesser used variants.
  • Increase/maintain the need for mech bays (good for PGI).
2. Make a purchased skill node permanently unlocked to allow a player to activate/deactivate it without penalty. If a player wanted to skill a mech two different ways, then they would need to spend the c-bills and xp on the two paths, but then could switch freely. This would eliminate the "tinker tax" on mech experimentation (one of the best parts of the game) and encourage more play to fully unlock a mech's skill tree to allow skill redistribution anytime.

2-1/2. Also, please keep the "special" mechs special, such as the Centurion-D, which would be just another mech if not for its LBX quirk.

OK guys, let's get behind Bullseye Bob and show support for these two requests. Both of these ideas are win / win options for both players and PGI . Are you listening PGI?
