I would play less.

but not for the reasons most would.

My main gripe is the CD nerf.

It doesnt really affect the alpha meta. The whole point of an alpha is to do as much dmg in 1 shot, so the CD of that shot rarely effects how long a mech has to duck back into cover and hide for, its usualy heat related.

DPS builds on the other hand, what i only ever use, are heavily affected by a CD nerf, as CD is specificaly what DPS relies on.

With a nerf to CD, DPS builds are getting gimped whilst alpha builds will see marginal reductions in performance. DPS builds are already on the back foot vs alpha builds, theres a reason alpha is and always has been the meta.

When they added ghost heat, my main DPS build become impossible, i quit the game (becouse i refuse to play meta cheese).
Year(s) later they removed ghost heat from my specific build, i came back.
Now PGI are at it again, though be it a nerf and not a complete removal of said builds viability. I will play less most certainly.

Meta changes frequently, it will again. The trick is to adapt.

Besides, The game is Soooo much better than it was when I (& it) started- netcode was broken for many years- only weapon that would reliably hit were guided (from Australia least). . So no, a change to the skill tree system wont bother me much at all. Only time I really had to take a break was when the UI for mechlab changed and didn't support my monitor resolution.

Frankly skill tree incurrent implementation is broken, so I wont lament its loss.

We don't have to "adapt" to anything. This is a pass time. If it's not fun, we won't do it. You can "adapt" all you like, but more players are going to adapt out of this game than to it if the current changes go through.
