Well.... IMO,

you have your forward your reverse your left and right,
I never use torso to legs... only legs to torso
I never use full stop cause when you let off forward you stop (decay)
I dont use command wheel

there really is no need for anything other then a keyboard and a 5 or 6 button mouse,

anything other then you loose time moving to make the command,
* i know thats why you guys use the tactical stuff... but its non nessesary

I agree with most of what you say but.... You use throttle decay??? That one blows me away. Holding down the forward (W) key is tiring & if you want to stop its a whole lot quicker to hit the stop button then to let off the throttle & let decay do it. My fully quirked mechs stop pretty much on a dime when I hit stop. That's a life saver when using scant cover like trees in Veridian.

Throttle decay is largely a matter of preference...unless you play lights. Virtually every good light pilot swears by throttle decay.

Hehehehehe key bindings this is a prefrence simplicity and seasoned combat pilots best friend. Personally i use semi standard minus the non quintessential things. Consequently, when my girlfriend made a new account on my computer, my keybindings went to hers and if not for me watching to help her in the tutorial. She would have been stuck because the tutorial will not let you continue unless you have alpha strike, center legs to torso, and others. Oh and the keybindings pop up i think which is f2 defualt. I changed it to something else I do not remember. Anyways here are some of the ones i use.

Just off the top of my head

Z is my module slot 1
C is my module slot 2
V is look around
Shift x is my mute unmute for teamspeak so i have x unbinded.
F1 is to open the map
Shift is arm lock toggle
E is command wheel (super handy)
R is target lock, key i probobly use 2nd most next to w which is forward
F5 is override on and off i have a logitech and its right next to my f1 to the left of shift and ctrl keys
Left ctrl is chain fire toggle on weapon groups use when 80 or 90 percent heat trying to finish an enemy mech
Zoom and out is set to my mouse wheel
Mouse wheel button is full speed for when i want to open the map and keep running

Just some ideas, hope these help.

You can search you tube and find evidence that you actually start and stop quicker with throttle decay. It is very important for lights to use it. It took me a while to get used to it, but once I did I haven't looked back. If you get sick of holding it while walking to the fight you can still set you throttle to full with the keypad and it won't decay.

It doesn't help with the immersion since most fps games are people so you have to hold it all the time, but it makes a big difference on the lights and slower mechs too.

In my experience "Stop" is faster than simply letting off "Forward".

Decay is good when you want or need more direct control over your motions. You also still have the NumPad so if you're cruising you can set a speed that matches your lance and just go from there.

Yeah, I actually have Q set to Throttle 100%, then have Decay on otherwise. It's a holdover from the AutoRun setting on Morrowind back in the day...

say hello to the deadliest lil bane out there lol

I should add that keeping the left hand on the home position on the key board will allow for thoughtless use of the keyboard
# For those of us that can type with out looking at the keyboard

Ok, so I stared with throttle decay on. Seen a video saying better to have it turned off. So got used to that, now the general consensus here is to have throttle decay on. Obviously as this goes on the only consistantcy will be change lol. Might have to search some more videos about this part of the movement settings

There's no consensus. Among top players you'll hear impassioned arguments for both. (Except light pilots. We all use it).

They do for me. ;)

Seriously, they out perform the Bane enough for me that they pay almost as well. And they have much more effect on matches. Since I started running a 5ML 3M frequently I can't stand the Bane, it's so much less effective at the same role.
