The reason certain things are hidden behind useless skills is because they are considered more valuable that other skills.
So lets do a thought experiment.
Assuming a "tree" consists of one node what value would have to be placed on the benefit of the node to make it equal to all the other nodes:
Lets limit the nodes to the following:
Radar Derp
Seismic Sensor
Cooldown
Range
Heat generation
Heat dissipation
Heat cap
Armour
Structure
So if Radar Derp means lock is lost immediately on loss of line of sight what value would the others have to be to match the benefit of radar derp?
