I know it cannot be defined like this that easily because T1 meet up to T4 players IIRC and thus we cannot forbid a T4 player from using a Trial Mech.

When in T1 you're at another level... usually serious about your builds and you expect your teammates to be the same like carry modules like UAV/arty/coolant. You must agree that it's a bit frustrating entering a match and see that guy in a basic green outfit then learn he's using a Trial which is obviously unoptimized and carry no module.

I was spectating one guy, noticed it was a very hot build and he had no coolant to support his build so I was suggesting him to bring coolant next time and I learned it was a Trial. No idea what Tier level he was, I didn't ask.

Anyone have suggestions to submit to devs? Unless you do not agree...

That's one of the problems to solve... as a T1 do you see any reason why you would play a Trial Mech? T1 players must have tried almost all chassis. If a new comes out maybe?

I'm T2, nearing T1, and I haven't tried nearly all the chassis in the game yet. Super rarely I jump into trial mechs to see how a chassis maneuvers before I buy them.

When (MS) runs all Crab rush in GQ, I have to hop onto the trial Crab. :P

Same here I don't remember the last time I jumped into a Trial...

I saw a handful of Stock mechs last night

At least I farmed a few faces, so losing with 4 Solo Kills, while 6 players failed to get 200 damage...didn't hurt as much
Now, it may have been because it was late and the population was low, so fully open MM have have occurred, but the Med wait time was a nice 10 seconds

You opinion, fine... but it's somewhat not logical to reach experienced T1 level and play along folks in trial mechs.

Why? Why do you think it matters?

I still think it's funny when people think T1 means skill. I'm almost T1 and i'm terrible at this game.

You're missing the obvious. If the trial mechs were gates to keep people in the kiddie pool, some people would play trial mechs because they want to be the sharks in that pool.

I have a couple of T4 accounts so I can troll T1 games in my trial mechs.

I play trial mechs occasionally. The Shadow cat and Orion IIC trial mechs aren't that bad. In fact, I might just buy the Shadow cat now that you only need one, and since I have something like 36,000 XP on the trial version.

Plenty of T1 players don't change mechs often, even if they play a lot. Heck I've played a lot for 4 and a half years and do switch mechs fairly often but I haven't played every single chassis.

"Trial mechs change often"

Yo, PGI... not sure if you are using a different dictionary, so just to be sure, define often.

I use trial mechs. I would use more if they had more.

Part of how a mech runs for me is not where the hardpoints are and how high and what kind and which meta builds there are mantra the ubergoobers are chanting..

Part of it for me is how does it handle... up hills, cornering, sightlines, turning into my favorite canyon... the trial mechs should be there to allow a player to try the ride and see if it is worth dropping millions on, they should change often to allow people to consider another chassis without having a very expensive (and sometimes unenjoyable that never gets used again) test drive.

Any tier should be able to use the trial mechs.
The trouble comes when the T4 guy using a trial mech gets dropped against a sync drop T1 comp team and they go off on that little ripe green metal kiwi on a race for the kill they know awaits... ever see an orca work a seal? Yeah, ripe little trial mech, drop a limb at a time and farm some components before the other guys get there with you... yum

The problem isn't even the Matchmaker, it does what it can with the given info. I feel the main flaw lies in the way the PSR is scored and then used as the main factor for determination of team building by the MM. Garbage in, garbage out, the truth in computer programming.

There are people that sandbag their stats to stay in the lower tiers to have an easy time clubbing baby seals for one example.
There are skilled players in T3 and T2 that should rank higher, but have little play time, so they get held down a bit as another example.

Don't fix the trial mechs, add more and change them often.
Trial mechs are working fine.
The trouble you see is caused by other issues.
You may go about your business.
Move along.
Move along.
