Going to reckon this is a not so subtle hint as to where the time jump will be landing us, and therefore also the focus of upcoming CW play.

eh, according to MW4, it was fought with Timberwolves, Mad Dogs, Summoners, Direwolves and Madcat mkIIs... so not seeing a huge difference.

Considering 2 of the 4 new 3060+ mechs coming this Spring/Summer are Clan mechs, it's almost guaranteed that 1 of those 2 Clan mechs is going to be the Mk II.

Can we have an Operation Bulldog/Task Force Serpent event first?

The start page of MWO features them already:

However, I hope they don't turn this into a simple Davion/FedSuns vs Steiner/Lyrans conflict. The FCCW was a lot more complex, and a lot dirtier than that.

One Daishi is ok - as long as it has the colours of the 10th Lyran Guards. Posted Image

apparently not. They probably don't want to screw up, have all the Compies play Clans and somehow have the Smoking Jags survive. KDK3s, HBK2Cs and Night Gyrs save the Smoke Jags bacon!

MW4 vengeance thru Mercs made it seem like Clan Mechs were a dime a dozen post Bulldog.

Amazing how much Clan tech a unit that wasn't even involved in Jaguar stomping can have. Merchant caste is clearly dealing this stuff in open air markets.

When I think about taking sides in this I just think about how much I hate Katherine Steiner-Davion. She is just such a rotten person.

In and out of universe she should have/could have been a much better antagonist. This was Hanse's baby girl after all. Instead we get bat$#!? crazy homicidal that somehow missed doing military service.

What do you think this is? An in-depth RPG with a rich lore, where highly developed characters with their own personalities, ambitions and fears all take part in a great galactic drama?!

The nerve!

/sarcasm

But yeah, that's literally all this game is capable of handling. It's going to be a Davion vs Steiner event. Period.

And PGI have only themselves to blame.

I mean, how do you involve highly developed characters in a purely PvP game?

That's what I was saying. FLG 01 was saying he wanted this event to be more than just another Side A vs Side B, but that's literally the only thing it can be because MWO could have been a lot, lot more than just a bog-standard PvP game, but the people in charge don't have a clue what they're doing and ruined any chance of these events ever being anything other than A vs B.

Or some ridiculous Leaderboard event for the next mech on the block.

Um... still don't see the point. Its an online game... online games typically mean PVP, which means deep characters aren't really a part of the game. The game has always been marketed as a PvP game, expecting deep characters/story is unwarranted.

No, that was not exactly what I was saying. I said I am against a simple Steiner vs Davion interpretation of the conflict. I have no problem with Loyalists (=Side A) vs Allies (Side B ), because that might be necessary, even though if we had more players I'd surely opt for more factions like Free Syke.

So you haven't played games like Eve Online, Star Trek Online, Star Wars: The Old Republic, World of WarCraft and how many other Online games that have, you know, an actual story to go with them?
