Yeah, we need more ECM it is sooo fun and never gets old. Why not just remove the radar?

Because the IS doesn't have a good ECM mech, and it is affecting faction balance. Didn't you read the thread?

Why let a little reading get in the way of a good snark remark.

Seems to be the case.

You are looking for the Dragoon.

http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Dragoon

Fast, jumpy, ECM, high hardpoints. Unfortunately extinct in the 31st century (though it was revived in the 32nd).

However, in the FCCW-era a number of classics are equipped with ECM: several Marauders (-5R, -5L, -6L, -7D, -9M, -9S), Archer -7L, Rifleman -7M, Grasshopper -7K, Thunderbolt -7SE, -10SE, and -9NAIS, JägerMech 7-F...
I think some of them could be good, some of them... not so much.

As far as new Mechs are concerned, Maelstrom and Dragon Fire come to mind, but also Penetrator. It is pretty much a Black Knight with better hardpoint location and added ECM.

Uh...from what I hear the IS bring nothing but LRMS into CW nowadays so...Tempest fits the bill just fine.

Oh yeah I forgot the Penetrator. The OP did say the mechs should have cockpit height weapons though so the Maelstrom probably doesn't count.

IS needs a good pop-tarting Heavy 'Mech. ECM is gravy, but ultimately unnecessary.

Falconer, plz.

Except Clans bring 4-6 Hellbringers in at least 2 waves, and Arctic Cheaters after that (atleast when MS was Clan), which basically nullifies IS LRMs. IS players bringing LRMs to CW are being stupid. Clan LRMs work much better in comparison because IS decks have almost no ECM mechs, because there are no good ECM mechs for the IS, hence this thread. In a LRM using pug match, Clans will beat IS every single time.

AV1-OE has ECM and lots of energy hard points. All pretty highly mounted. Also it's an Inner Sphere Omnimech. It's about the closest thing you can get to a hellbringer.

Bad geo from every angle, locked engine, low hard-points. Nope.

Falconer is basically a Marauder with the ballistic on the arm (in the back):

Sorry man but that would not be very good in MWO.

Assuming we get hvy ppcs the Penetrator could fill both the ecm and poptart needs but it'd have mediocre hit boxes.

Is it fitting that nobody mentioned the crappy ECM Cataphract yet?

It's great! Slow engine cap and waist-height weapons with only 5 hardpoints. Why isn't being heralded as Savior of the IS?

Your opinion ofc. I think the Avatar would be an excellent addition to the Inner Sphere arsenal.

Opinion doesn't factor into it, it has objectively inferior characteristics that you can see when you compare it to existing top-tier machines and, even more fundamentally, when you look at how the game mechanics influence tactics.

Mind you, I'd still like to see it in the game because it would be fun, but as long as we're talking meta...it won't be it.

Lots of hardpoint homogeneity to go around, among other issues.

And FW is the only thing which is affected by it and the majority of the player play FW. Didn't you and your fellow short-sighted self-shoulder-clapping friends activate your brains before you typed?

Screw the meta. There's lots of non-meta mechs in the game so I see no reason why we can't add it just as something fun to play.
