Timing wise, this would have been a bad time to invest all this time in effort to implement a system they'd be redoing in a few months.

... With the announcement of the new tech in July it was a good thing to wait. For one, they'd have to redo it with the new tech anyway. Two, we'd have to redo our points with new tech and tree layouts. Love it or hate it, we could use a skill tree revamp.
