Its simple should there be a betting pool started on the new tech?

Options:
- Yes new tech will make it into the game.
- No new tech will not make it into the game.

If we want to get more detailed betting we could possibly set it up too.
- Will new tech be delayed?
- 90 days?
- Will the PTS responses to a PTS of new tech cause for delay, or canceling of implementation?

If I was going to bet I would say no new tech will make it into the game because community responses on the PTS about new tech, community hates change when if finally gets close.

I'm gonna bet that Mad Cat MK II will be used in highest level tournaments in the future. I'll bet mech pack to those who wish to bet against me.

I'm going to bet that the PTS for new tech runs for 72 hours tops, with a live server event running simultaneously, and that 24 hours in PGI will announce that "by the way this looks like a good time to test a few other new concepts as well and will be throwing them in on top of the new tech to see how these features interact to form a new baseline of performance...oh and to further that all current tech now does half damage, 32% more heat, and 17% cool down rates; as these random changes are needed to establish that new baseline". At which point they will go silent, then at the end of the PTS when the forums and reddit have had a good couple of days in which to explod into confusion and outrage, Russ will post something on twitter suggesting his bewilderment with the negative feedback, stating that he's been as "communicative as possible".

That's my bet.

Im going to bet with my 4 months of moduling 200 mil investment that half the weapons are cancelled and the other half arrive in december and the game is shut down less than a month after mad cat II comes out for cbills.

Put me down for a hundred posts! :D

I call new tech WILL be pushed back, but not because of PTS response, but because of general design balance issues..

Then, there will be a PTS, and after that, it will be shoved down our throats.

It WILL however make it into the game, because people were promised the Mad Cat Mk II and by God they will get it, or QQ out of the game! :P

People will be fine with New Tech.

Unlike the other rejected changes, New Tech will add something to the game without taking something away.

While I agree that folks will be fine with new tech, I disagree with the later part of your post. Much like with the skills tree I feel certain that they will include a nerf pass with new tech and it will be of a scope greater to what we just saw for both IS and clan mechs. Whereas with the skills tree pass they only looked to offensive quirks. I suspect that with the LFE coming in we will see any mechs known for standard engine builds to have not only their offensive quirks hit but a significant reduction in defensive quirks as well. Some of this nerffing might even be justified.

The point is, is that new tech, just like the skills tree will indeed involve something being taken away. You can bet on that.

I'm also pretty sure that not all of the shown weapon systems will make onto the live server this year.
Adding half of them would be difficult to balance, but all of them - i just don`t see that. Especially the new Missile options (ATMs, MRMs, Rocket Launchers) will be a huge pain to implement into the current gaming environment.

I will bet the following:

IS tech:

LB-? ACs = in
Ultra AC/? = in
ER Lasers = in
Streak SRMs = in
Light and Heavy Gauss = in
Light and heavy MG = in
MRM = possibly (just SRMs with longer range...)
Rotary AC/2 and 5 = out (they'll need to do some coding)
Rocket Launchers = in, but never used unless they can be placed into critical space without requiring hardpoints
Varieties of PPC = in (code already exists)
Light Fusion Engines = in (just a variety of Clan XL)
Light Ferro = in
Stealth Armor = in, but removed in PTS because they will nullify LRMs
TComps = in (just variant on clan TComp
Laser AMS = in

Clan:
Light and heavy MGs = in
Micro Laser / Micro Pulse = in
Heavy Lasers = in
Light Tag = in
ATM = in (the ability to alter damage drop off already exists)
Light Active Probe = in
Laser AMS = in

TLDR;

Most of the stuff announced is just a heavy or light version of what is already in the game, stat changes on a XML document.
The 1... yes, just 1... weapon with unique mechanics will not make it into the game.

I bet they will pull out on the new weapon 10 days before launch because a couple of people will complain and retract their pre-orders.
Because it will upset their very fun ppc/gauss meta we have now.
