ELEMENTALS BABY!

I really hope not. IMHO they were one of the downsides of MW:LL.

With a ping of 200 or more they were impossible to hit, but yet, could dish out the equivalent firepower of a full Star of Elementals from table top.

They didn't make the game better. Quite the opposite.

There is no useful role for ER Pulses in the game, Clans already benefit from pulse lasers with high optimal ranges, and IS VS Clan battles really don't need a pulse weapon that goes as far as a comparable ER laser.

Yeah, pulse lasers exist in MWO a as short-duration laser to mimic the accuracy to-hit modifier they get in TT, and to add a little more Oomph per shot. The micro pulse will have the clans' shortest beam duration in the game. An ER Pulse laser would just have a longer burn and more heat, so it would just be like a bigger laser, not a pulse laser.

Why micro? To synergize energy and machine guns in the same range bracket with a higher net DPS.

Are people having problems imagining Viper-C builds using micro? I am not.

I don't think light machine guns + standard will be more popular than micro + mg.

"Why micro lasers?"

Because HAGs are apparently off the table, and without HAGs the Clans have remarkably few new technologies prior to the Jihad era and everything going pear-shaped. Also now Piranha's in a position to release the Pirahna.

Micros are niche as hell, but then again they always were. Good* in city fights, which is why they rebuilt a Grizzly with them for city brawls, but much like the UrbanMech, they're pointless if they're caught anywhere save lodged inside Grandma's condo for a surprise attack. They'll be lulsy, and lulsy is really all one can expect from them.

On the ERP lasers thing...first of all, hueh hueh hueh 'ERP' lasers. Second of all, no. ER Pulse lasers are boring, and also 'ER' and 'Pulse' are literally opposite ends of the energy spectrum in this game. ER are long-range, high-burntime lasers; pulse are short range, short-burntime lasers. Combine the two and you get standard lasers. The Clans do not need standard lasers.

Heavy lasers are much more interesting, implementation-dependent, and may bring 'Mechs with hardpoint deficits (SHADOW. CATS.) back into the game to some extent. ERP guns would not do that.

Coding new weapon mechanics would be difficult... micro lasers and heavy lasers are a case of copying and pasting table values and adjusting as they see fit.

May have some new art associated... but I doubt it, just a shrank down version of what laser hardpoints look like now.

Different colour beam, also easy.

It's low hanging fruit for the devs

They were one of the funnest options in MW4:Mercs + Mekpak 3

Well with Elementals being only 1t battle armour, do you know how tiny they would be? They are literally 5% of the mass of a Locust and we all know how small they are... They could take cover behind anything! They also pack a jump of 3 in TT, considering their weight, they'd be able to fly better than a Viper!

Even still try any map and "run" to center of the map with <11kph ;) and time that. is that 15 mins enough?
