So right now using VR stuff is pretty impracticable. Primarily because you're aiming where you're looking and frankly the idea of torso twisting like that would be annoying. However, already the player has the ability to look inside his cockpit independently of where or how their mech is facing.
All one would have to do is give this function it's own keymapping that can be manipulated by the VR or IR device. That way in VR the player is using M&KB per usual but is also looking inside of their cockpit.
