This is the discussion threads.
KLICK HERE TO FIND POLL!

First of all, his vid:

12 minutes short: IS Ferro-Fibrous is worse than Clan FF, Light FF would be just as bad (proportionally), so make them closer to Clan for balance.
Lore go home.

I’d like to contradict and ask for your opinion.
I don’t like the idea of making everything the same!

Instead, there has been the suggestion of making FF actually increase the armour limit, not just making it lighter. While being a reasonable idea for itself, giving FF some edge over the more efficient Endo-Steel structure upgrade, one could also use this for treating the balance issue mentioned by Kana:

Make IS (L)FF not only be 12% lighter, but also increase max armour (maybe not full 12% of points, but enough for balancing), while leaving Clan FF with their 20% weight decrease without max armour increase.

Clan FF don’t need balancing against Clan ES since, while also taking half the slots compared to IS, it gives the same weight saving while FF improves from 12 to 20 % efficiency in addition.

Your thoughts?

Ah, thx, missed the other one.

This thread is about the presented proposal then.
Also, as you said about repetition

After several people voted for "leave as it is" in the poll without further comment, I edited the option asking to explain the reason. So don't wonder.
After all, we know that IS FF is inferior to every other of the options and LFF will be the same.

So, could you please?

I'd love to know the reason why did people vote "Leave IS Clan FF/Endo as is". Aside from TT neckbeards and rabid Clan loyalists trolling us, I cannot see any reason why IS FF/Endo should stay strictly inferior in this game.

If we must shore up it's deficiencies. Let's not make it the same. I hate homogenization in game balance between factions/classes.

Only not sure what makes sense. I would like to see maybe it increases your armor cap a bit. Like really small, but something!

I think I agree with giving isFerro/isLFerro additional armor bonus.

Moreover when we consider that that's the way PGI have been imagining IS all this time - the tankier faction.

The problem is that PGI can't implement the one weakness of the clans and that is their fighting style and honor code. I wonder when the time will come and the IS mechs are only practice targets to shoot at for the clan mechs.

Not to mention they can't implement the 12v10 rule as well.

I would rather it do something else like protect from (x) crits or something.

Yeah, you can enhance attributes to suit a role. But ultimately it's what the players choose to make of it. If you wanna see role warfare than convince a unit to create roles within their play style.

The last serious attempt to create mechanics that encouraged scout mechs was the infotech lockon mechanic. But they met with so much flak, that they gave up on it.

I understand it, but how to balance such a thing is a tough one. Good luck to the peeps working on this.

Hes right though, Overwatch doesn't have unbalanced game play by design, no multi player game does, and for good, obvious, reasons. Only here in MechWarrior Online forums is such a concept even put forward.

So like a Star Wars game would idealy be balanced, or Star Trek, how to keep the faction differences and characteristics and have balance is the only relevant question.

Like I said 10 times over the last few years, this is without a doubt the toughest game to balance, even with "equal" factions. Not to mention "trolls" who want to see unbalanced game play constantly bring that concept up.

With the new skill/mech tree and new equipment AND new mechs being added, this is no easy task for anyone to get right. :) I smile because I'm glad it isn't me doing it. :)

As a player I can see balance issues over time though, but what to do about them is another thing entirely.

Sometimes **** gets added to the game that has no practical use

I dont even get why people are zeroing in on light ferro like it has game changing potential.

There is much more on that list to have nerdgasms over...but you choose the ferro fibrous to nitpick over.

Light ferro is probably just something they are adding so some future mech pack stock mech can be supported AND THEN PROMPTLY STRIP ALL'D AND REBUILT. Just like the Command Console was added because it happened to be in a DDC but PGI did nothing with it and essentially still hasnt.

Battletech needs to be rewritten from the scratch as soon as the Timeline advances to the "Arrival of the Clans" as it is the most destructive force preventing any sane approach for Balancing this game as 3D-Realtime-Computergame and will EVER prevent Battletch from become a more successful game on the PC as it either keeps the IS or the Clan Players out of a fun balanced game.

As it is you can in a Computergame only grind your way from the IS up and then shift to the Clans bcs Players Play to win and not to restrict themself to absurd rules to Balance out themself the misconception of all Clantech that has no drawbacks for its mighty Advantages.

The People who invented/developed Clans must have had the Intention to destroy Battletech, force customers into an armsrace or prevent Battletech from ever become a successful MMO that has a sensible Balance where Advantages come at the cost of Drawbacks which are totally absent on the Clanside.

The only good Balance is pre-Clan, after that there is only powercreep and no customerbase will restrict themself to selfharming rules to overcome the balance-disaster bcs roleplayers are maybe 5% to 10% of a playerbase while 90% either suffer from the disbalance and envetually leave the game or exploit the disbalance and stop playing when there are no more victims to slaughter left bcs in the end Wolves never hunt Wolves !

Battletech will only prosper if Battletech is rewritten from the Arrival of the Clans !!!

And by that way never let the dark age happen - it makes no sense at all !!!!!

Good Luck!

Kanajashis suggestion sounds like not only wanting your cake and eating it, but also digging your fork in to your neighbours cake.
