Key design features:

1. Utterly, bitterly cold.

2. Set in the crater of a meteor strike. (ie. Dish-shaped)

3. It's always daytime.

4. It's exactly 1000m across.

5. There is absolutely no cover.

And I would call this masterpiece... "PUGhalla".

Make sure the assault bases are up on the sides of the crater and that the crater is too deep for jumpjets to get out of so it's impossible to backcap them.

Do you know that Victric Forge is a crater?

And Polar Highlands might actually be a crater covered in ice and snow.

PGI has been working on this map since 2014. More difficult to implement then realized. It will come after skill trees ...."sources" :)

Not the "style" just the maps that encourage the style.

A counter proposal, if I may;

1. Incredibly hot

2. Set in a destroyed city

3. It's always night time

4. The floor is lava

5. No sightlines longer than 100 meters

I call it "Got Gauss?"

It would be pretty good if it has sufficient cover spread out over the entire crater.

Incidentally that basically describes Frozen City 1.0. I miss that map, I really do.

A counter counter proposal.

It starts freezing cold, the map pic is covered in snow so all the nubs that can't manage their heat choose it.

Lot's of unobstructed line of sight and it's daytime so the lrm boaters pick it.

THEN AT A RANDOM POINT.

A meteor hits and lava erupts from the earth or maybe a volcanic eruption.

It goes from freezing to boiling.

The sky is full of ash so you couldn't see the nose on a dragon from the cockpit.

Thermal and night vision become worthless.

The floor becomes lava.

Random pyroclastic flows that cook mechs alive.

In the center a deep pit of lava you can fall into to unlock a achievement.

Even more so, we need a heavily urban environment.

I'm still hoping we'll get a couple of these for Civil War.

I'm envisioning something as big as Arctic Highlands.

Spawn points should be in industrial areas and rail yards on the outskirts of the city. Smaller avenues that allow only lights and some mediums easy passage while confining Assault mechs and Heavies to the main roads. Once inside the cityscape, skyscrapers tower above, making most long-range weapons all but useless. True knife-fighting. Lights with direct-fire weapons would have the greatest advantage (the Urbanmech's true home, and a place where the new Annihilator would be the scariest thing in the game).

At the VERY heart of the city, either a Comstar HPG facility or some Royal Palace, surrounded by light fortifications and a park. This would be the capture point for certain game modes, or a start-point for VIP Escort, trying to get to an extraction point.

This map could also translate to FP, where the defending team can utilize natural choke points, where superior flanking skills are the only way for the attackers to win.
