And it has been copyrighted for almost 500 years...
Talk about a long living company.
(No Microsoft Inside?)

Given the history of Battletech, that software could have been written centuries ago.

Perhaps. But it's kept up to date though. So I am a software company and my company goes under. I am not going to update the date of my copyright to the latest year
(you see a lot of old games is like... 2000 to 2004, the year of the software release. they don't get auto-update to show "2000 to 2016")
The Lang Software is up to date (assuming we are fighting in 3015) with the correct year. Must have been an impressive software. I wonder how many patches did it receive during 500 years?

Yeah, copyright system is stupid. World will become a better place once this "copyright" nonsense would go away.
Copyright system was introduced in times when smartest and educatedest people actually believed that perpetual motion machine is possible. Its all you need to know about how smart is this system.

Could be a skin for an older software anyway. Like unix. Lang would be a company that puts out the new patches for old mechs to help keep them in service.

So this must be an inside joke or a PGI employee.
Maybe the lead programmer? Can't be a tribute to Sean Lang, right?

Probably is a tribute to Sean Lang, given NGNG is so supportive of PGI.

Bug fixes:
- Fixed issue where sensors would read temperatures cooler than normal, allowing for internal heat to rise above normal shutdown levels.
- Fixed an issue where PPC capacitors would overcharge in rare cases, causing catastrophic internal damage
- Fixed an issue where the polarity of the plasma conduits in the fusion reactor would reverse.
- Fixed issue causing electrical feedback through neural helmet interfaces.
Unresolved issues:
- Left leg actuator control sometimes locks up when attempting to throttle up and turn left at the same time. Advise completing turns before throttling up.
- Targeting computer drivers have been known to crash randomly. There is no work around for this issue at this time.

... is Sean the ancestor to the guys who make the Shadowhawk. o.o
Even if the code is old, 500+ years of customer support is amazing, especially for such an outdated model. That's dedication.
