finally a change to the component health. how this could have gone unnoticed for years now is weird, but better late than never.

ignore the whining clanners, they profited from unblanced equipment for far too long now anyway (and still do..).

Gauss nerf sucks for me, i loved to play my Grid Iron, but since i got it it has been nerfed into the ground time and time again and there seems to be no end to it...

More seriously, now that Clan loses health, will IS lose quirks? You know, balance.

Yes, this was done for balance. So no, no more IS nerfs. But an attempt at balance.

Well PGI, you're WRONG! Clan targeting computers will now be mostly worthless and Clan weaponry will be as fragile as cheap glass.

Way to keep on screwing over your Clan players.

About time something is done to balance the blatant superiority of the Clan side of the game. Of course one could argue that it would have been wiser to buff IS in order to avoid the whine, but either way is fine with me as long as it ends up being more fair than before.

QFT. And there is more that needs to be done.

I wonder if they at least managed to fix the left arm of the Nova whose alignment was screwed up during the December or January patch.

Yeah the whole arm, even the left shoulder is a bit off, the hand are angled majorly wrong. But yeah, well its needed fix isnt listed in the "Fixed" list. Its about time PGI fixes the Novas and other mechs messed up geometry parts, arms, legs, plates and whatever.

Regarding the rest of the patch. "nerfs" to srm 4 and lrm 5 spread. Im... holding judgement, nerfing and buffing component healt, well might be good, dont know until we play around for a bit, same for the reducement in crit chance, dmg for other weapons than MG and LBX weapons etc. Not least the reduction in Clan Targeting computers effectiveness. Lets see how this goes, though I might see a glimmer on why PGI adjusted the values like they did.

I have news for you, freebirth---Clan technology is SUPPOSED to be blatantly superior to IS technology, as are trueborn Clan warriors. But I guess you missed that part of the MechWarrior universe.

Yes, it is and IS is supposed to have a bunch of slightly to mildly inferior options compared to the fewer but all around superior clan options. And that power gap is SUPPOSED to decrease as time goes by. In lore the clans basically say that their unwillingness to experiment and deviate from what they know works has lead to the IS catching up quicker then ever imagined as the IS doesn't have the same hang ups about experimenting and failing. But the Jihad era (the era right after civil war) tech is fairly even. By the early republic era (first part of dsrk age era and happened right after jihad) everyone had accepted this and mixed tech was common place.

Also the "trueborn" system was proven to be false within years of the clan invasion. Its stated so many times in the novels and source books that it is surprising that anyone still believes that caln warriors are suprior. The trueborn system has more to do with tradition after the clan invasion era then it has anything to do with producting superior warriors. Far more clans open up their warrior castes to freeborn warriors and allow freeborn bondsman test into the warrior castes. Its actuslly one of the points of contention that leads to the wars of reaving and the perception that the clans have been tainted by contact with the IS. Clans were ultimately upset that they had hand selected genes and trained warriors since birth and only let the best progress to being a warrior and that their average warrior was on par with all but the most green of IS units. They also resented that some IS pilots were vastly superior to the majority of their bloodnamed warriors.

Battletech's active and living timeline/story ranges from 3025 to 3150. Lots of people seem to like to stop in their favorite part of the timeline.

Folks be kind to MWO and PGI. Remember they are Canadian and the only weapons they know are NERF Guns. Unless Dual heat sinks are now truly 2 times more efficient then single heat sinks, then the entire post about balancing is garbage. PGI when balancing a system you have to look at the second , third, and forth order effects of all changes otherwise you create more problems for yourself and your players. Besides you will probably lose most of your players to MASS Effect come the 21st

Update: Been playing the new patch for a couple hours. What I have noticed is that no clan mechs are surviving the matches.

This is great and all with exception of the LRM-5 spread. Way to make LRM support slightly more irrelevant.

Gives you an incentive to fit proper launchers I guess.... LRM 5's have always had an advantage due to their size/weight etc settings so not sure why you're surprised they finally made a change.

Reading:
Nothing about the dropping issues on FP, seem a bit less but notsolved or mentioned

And the FP-world engagement/tactics/maps/ experience.

PGI do PLAY and talk to FP-mechwarriors.

Havent read the weapon healthpoint addaptions.

Folks, the next patch for MWO has been released and with it, more Clan nerfs while at the same time buffing IS mechs (again). This is it for me. I'm done. Clan internals are now more fragile, targeting computers (other than range) is now basically useless, ballistic weapons have been nerfed even more, and now even missile weapons have been nerfed (greater spread, less focus fire).

I've had enough of PGI swinging the nerf bat at us, and yes, I do take this personally. I'm done.

Seems good, excited for upcoming Skill tree, incursion, new weapons etc. Only problem-why are all the Champions med laser boats? No variety? Also, as said before, new map would be awesome (See quote for best new map thread)

Oh I know. The Clans already ruined TableTop and now MWO for years. If it were just me ... I'd simply want an "IS only" button on the quickplay options and be done with the Clans. I do not need them, I do not want them, I see no purpose in them. I am offended that I am forced to fight with them in one team. They add nothing except an entitlement quirk for players.

I guess they add significant amounts of $$ for PGI. So there's that.

Not sure if trolling... but I'll bite anyways. Yes, in the stories it is. In a live pvp game, not so much, both sides need balance.

Ok with most changes, slightly dissapolinted with the SRM 4 nerf, but I'll survive. Will be interested to see how the changes to crits/health turn out on the live server.

expect with the new skill tree you get to put on Gauss quirks. So when that gets here your mechs that use gauss as a primary will greatly benefit.

Clans don't get Rotary ACs because they were only even Experimental, and stayed that way due to HAGs coming out. if you want Clan RACs, then IS gets all the experimental weapons on their side too.

And I have news for you clanner -- IS soldiers are SUPPOSED to outnumber you in every fight with traps and ambushes where possible. Want to play a clan cluster against two to three IS regiments?

I'm glad about the tech jump, then ! At least if will silence people like You, who rejoice in clan superiority.
Because in 3067, clan tech is no longer supposed to be better;-)

PS. James - i took a look at your leaderboard stats and looks like you'll be loosing your Bloodname soon ;-)

Engine decoupling will be a way of promoting the skill tree grind.
Trust me, you will NEED those +50% accel/decel skills.

LRM5s had the best accuracy & DPS per tonnage. That made mechs with multiple missile hardpoints outright better. 4xLRM5 >>> LRM20.
