Clan RAC is experimental tech (aka not existed outside test fields)

actually Clan RAC2/5 created in 3069 by CDS went into fulll production 3073,

I wish we'd go back to 3025 and get rid of the power creep.

not sure if that would fix the problem, you will always have power creep,
ya you could have less of it when you have less things to balance but i dont think thats the answer,
because if full pursued we would all be in UM-R60s fighting with just MPLs and MGs,

Unfortunately, that is a misunderstanding from Sarna's part. Research started in 3069, the frist prototypes come in 3073, production starts in 3104.

I wouldn't mind going back to single heatsinks again, with a modification to how gauss operates so it doesn't converge. The game was way better in closed beta, way more fun.

HAGs might get the ability to fire in larger groups considering the fact they aren't pin point like gauss too, which is probably the main reason for the limit (you can fire has many LBX 20s as you want fine, not that there is a current mech that I think could carry more than 2, maybe when the annihilatior comes out).

Anni can only take 2 LB20x, they need an STD engine and 11 Crit Slots

I didn't know they require a charge time, too so that's basically 4 things against Heavy lasers. Still waiting to see how pgi works it before I start making conclusions but a charge up time really gonna hurt it.

They're gonna have high heat
That's all we know
Probably longer duration, but still high Dam/tick (hopefully)

Probably low DPS as a result, but high upfront LOLpha

For the Hell's Horses, correct. However, they never gave them to the rest of the clan much later. And even then, they were extremely rare and experimental until even later.

First, why it should have been introduced into game together with IS getting RAC? Because HAG is basically clan RAC. Here full description from Sarna.

And now how it can be made into the game to be both balanced and very fun. So since its based on gauss technology it should have:

a) same charge mechanic as gauss.
When using HAG ingame you press button to charge, aim, then release button and based on the HAG size (HAG20,HAG30,HAG40) number of bullets (20, 30 or 40) will fire with same firerate as IS RAC. Balance factor here is that unlike IS RAC, you can shoot only fixed number of bullets (20,30 or 40) based on the HAG size, you cant shoot less or more than (20,30 or 40) bullets per one charge-and-fire cycle. And since all three of HAG sizes should have same ammo per ton (lets say 100 rounds per tonn) - you would be able to shoot biggest HAG40 only 2 times from 1 ton of ammo.

б) same projectile speed and range as gauss. Yes, all three of HAG sizes (HAG20, HAG30, HAG40) should have same range and projectile speed as current Gauss Rifle in game. (as they are on Sarna wiki)

c) cool futuristic sound of shooting like this one https://youtu.be/cXaEP7jGVOs?t=4m20s
i would have thought it fired eithe like a RAc or like an LBX(Way more accurate though) except firing guass slugs instead of large caliber artillery styleshells. Larger Hag more slugs per shot.

Oh come on, one year of timeline is what stopping us from having clans counterpart of IS RAC for sake of balance and fun? Seriously, in some cases(some mechs release) PGI already violated timeline like on 5 years or something.

3068 would entail a whole bunch of other new equipment besides HAGs. Like Improved Heavy Lasers, LACs, Plasma Rifles, Plasma Cannons, Machine Gun Arrays, Improved Heavy Gauss, etcetera.

Can't pick and choose mate.

I don't know what PGIs criteria for adding stuff is. There are tables in Interstellar Operations that cover the availability of pretty much everything. There's a pretty long list of stuff that exists right now in the timeline that is not in the game.

Existing in prototype and being widely distributed are two different things. I would guess they're going by Technical Readouts, the biggest selling products, not tables in an obscure optional rulebook.

That's the point. A lot of the stuff you listed would still be prototypes/experimental. If you suggest that 3068 would unlock a bunch of new tech there are several things that exist now that could be added.

It doesn't matter if the rulebook is obscure to you. It's the most comprehensive and up to date list on availability.

And personally I don't care if PGI sticks to the timeline. They could add every piece of equipment up to 3150 and I would be fine with that.

Of course it does, because you know that Battletech players aren't buying it for Inner Sphere at War or the other garbage game systems they put in there. I would argue that book has about 120 pages of semi-useful optional gear & rules, sandwiched by about 280 pages of crap. And yeah, I would put the "nice to look at, next to useless" availability tables in the crap pile.

I am sure they did not go by the TROs because that is inefficient (it means searching dozens of Mechs per book manually and creating your own lists, when there are canonic lists available already), and it is also a flawed idea.
You would not find any L-PPC in a pre-Jihad TRO, for example, simply because the new IS PPCs were introduced in 3067 and they were not installed on the new Mechs. Some found their way to new variants sooner but those are not covered by TROs.

I wish the availability tables had been a separate book. I agree that taking up most of that book with them was stupid. And lot of the modern rule books are poorly laid out and confusing. But that's a different subject.

As far as being useless. A lot people play certain eras of battletech. Knowing what is available and when is actually fairly important. It's a needed resource. Even if dry and boring.

I just thought they were gauss rifles that fired like clan ACs. Their ammo tonage is a horror though.
I think Lore makes clans not really have much in the way of new weapons tech around this period, but as far as MWO goes, clans are still using old tricks (and maybe getting that laser nerf still). I know, ATMs, but they arent even properly useful the way clan mechs pilots would use them in this game.

HAGs would be nice, but I'd honestly like to see clan ACs get single fire rounds, or atleast the number of shells reduced over UACs.
