Ok so since this sucker was sold wholesale to whoever threw currency at the Diamond Sharks. Will we be able to use it for the IS side of CW? I know it is a Clan Mech by manufacture that was wold wholesale to the IS.
Case in point
The Mad Cat Mk II was in development for fifteen months by the time production began in 3061^[2]. The sole rationale for the Mad Cat Mk II was to increase profits for Clan Diamond Shark after war with the Inner Sphere in the 3050s. Designed to be sold to fellow Clans, this rebuild of the Timber Wolf carries thirteen tons of ferro-fibrous armor while being one of most nimble BattleMechs of its class, yet still packing serious weaponry.
Despite this, Mk II's most notable potential buyers, Clan Wolf and Clan Jade Falcon, did not purchase even a single unit, though they won some numbers in Trials. Significant numbers of Mad Cat Mk II were sold to Clan Nova Cat^[5], and the Mech served also in Clan Ice Hellion^[6], Clan Jade Falcon^[7], Clan Wolf-in-Exile ^[8] in addition to Diamond Shark itself.^[9]
On a limited basis, ^[10] Clan Diamond Shark sold unmodified Mad Cat Mk IIs to Inner Sphere factions, most notably the Draconis Combine and Federated Commonwealth, and also the Lyran Alliance^[11] bought an unknown amount of Mad Cat Mark IIs.

That's the real question isn't it... with the change to FedCom civil war era, a number of IS Great Houses added a bunch of Clan Mechs to both the MUL (master unit list) as well as their RAT's (Random Assignment Tables)....

That's even ignoring the fact that the Mk. II was intended to be sold to the IS, hence why CDS/CSF went about naming it the way they did, not to mention using older Clan tech that they knew would be rejected by and large by depleted Clan Forces that were in desperate need of new mechs to replace losses... hell they also made it a battle mech, not a cutting edge omni-mech... It's all hidden between the lines for the lore of the Mk. II...


All of this leaves me wondering just what PGI is going to do with these changes that happen in lore / TT.... If they ignore it, fine, it's their universe. If not, I expect things to go side ways really fast.

You can actually do it without allowing mixed Tech. Come July 18th when the Mad Cat MKII releases IS will get their own versions of most Clan weapon systems. It would be easy to make an IS version of the MKII that mounted IS weapons, equipment and engines. That way IS only pilots would not have to buy additional Clan Tech.

A MKII packing a full load of MRM 40 launchers and some back up lasers would be a frightening thing to see coming for you on the battlefield. One AC/DC Mech is not going to destroy balance.

I really do not care what they do but it would be interesting, would be supported by lore and would help IS fanbois.

Eh, I wouldn't say it was whole sale. It was still restricted more then a normal IS dealer would have.

And IMO still feel it was more designed for both, not just IS clients. With of course the typical fluff focus on CJF and CW, little has been noted about other Clans really besides.Nova cat and Wolf in Exile. However it would be interested to hear what is saI'd about other Clans like Ghost Bear. Who would have been probably in the market a bit for mechs. Since thier production would have been hauled with the move to the Innersphere and still working with getting the capturrd IS lines retooled over to thier designs. Anyway...I csnt wait to hear what Randal writes uo on the Mk II hero here.

actaully it wouldn't be supported by lore, because the one sold to the IS was still pure clan tech. And you open the door for one, people will demand more. Sanity is to NOT open the door.

Exactly. Sure some people will pinky promise on here that "of course we wouldn't!" but you cant get people to even agree to common fixes for things.

It would arguably be closer to lore than NOT allowing the IS to have it or for that matter allowing mixed Tech at this point in the timeline.

Not really. Most of our highest selling products have the Clan Diamond Shark stamp on them. I'd rather not abandon a brand name most people recognize.

Except for new players who will only have cbills for IS tech when they start out or by using the champion mechs.
