Could anyone tell me how it happened that MWO mech sizes are so different from BT mech sizes? If we would follow BT scaling, then MWO Dire Wolf should be of MWO Viper size. Or MWO Storm Crow should be of MWO Urbanmech size. What is wrong with those BT mech sizes that PGI decided to rescale them to their own liking?

Why are the Thor and Loki the only ones facing left?

The original drawings in the 3050TRO had them facing to the right like the rest, however what is shown is the parts on the left side of the Mechs, so I fixed it and had them facing the other way. You can see on the Loki side view the searchlight is visible up top but that would be blocked by the SRM launcher if looking at the right side, and on the Thor the cockpit should be visible if it was looking at the right side. I also added the arm to the Mad Cat side view using the identical Loki arm, since the original drawing of the Mad Cat was armless to show more of the torso shape from the side.

There is a similar visual error in that book with the Elemental drawing, where the left arm from the side view with the battle claw shows the underslung machinegun on the underside of the arm but it is visible from the front view and not visible on the rear view. Just a few visual glitches in image orientation for the orthographic drawings. Getting super nitpicky the Mad Cat, Vulture, Thor and Loki front views also had the torso misaligned a bit off center from the legs which I fixed up as well in the chart.

It's not only size, but also design.

For example, if you take a look at BT mech drawings you will see that they were really varied. Comparing Myst Lynx to Nova is probably not good, because by watching BT picture, Nova can't really twist torso much. Also, side profile shows that total Nova's body size is probably still bigger than of Mist Lynx - much wider and longer. This was depicted in MW2 game, but changed in MWO. Nevertheless we don't know mech internals nor how Endo/Ferro/etc would affect such sizes, hence I will stay with those BT mech depictions. By the way, take a look at BT Myst Lynx weapon areas, those are real high mounts, almost cockpit level, while Nova's mounts are possibly lowest in game. Clean trade-off.

Then let us swap to BT Executioner, especially side profile. It has sort of backpack which most likely is artist visualization of Jump Jet and MASC carry area. If we would follow this route then you could probably blow this part of mech without killing it and it would serve as extra armor covering rear torso. Not possible in MWO(and also not exactly possible in BT tabletop). But lets look at the right arm, which is literally what one could call Shield Arm, with real shield on shoulder. In MWO this arm could be resized to make it really huge and extra Armor Structure quirks should be added to depict how different it is from left one. To compensate, left arm could be reduced and made really poor damage blocker, as it is already poor for Gargoyle. And whole mech should be smaller but bulkier of course.
