I'll first moderate what follows by acknowledging that MWO 'mechs are by and large fantastic. There's a near-endless list of Alex making total stinkers look great, for the first time ever.
But a couple standout misses:
First, BattleMaster for me too. I don't recognize it as one. It's just a bland, boxy thing, the original has grace.
Wolverine has a bit of the same syndrome going on, too shapeless and boxy -- though it preserves the essentials of the original design OK. It's supposed to be an ugly 'mech, but the MWO WVR is ugly in a forgettable way.

The Wolverine in MWO is absolutely one of the ugliest mechs in the game. It bums me out to look at it. I think I've had both my Phoenix Wolverine and my loyalty Wolverine deleted, I can't really remember. They're just so very ugly.

Mind you, it's not such a total disaster in Alex' concept art. It looks kind of... mediocre in that art. But the chin-mounted laser in the 3D version just looks like a huge goiter and ruins the whole design.

Yeah I like the Vulture / Mk 2 also, as much as the original with no chin hardpoints.
The Cougar by Alex is great, but yeah. I find some differences which slowly grow on me. Like the roof on the cockpit for Alex version is glass, the past ones have armor there. And the shoulders are lower on past Cougars.

Oh, crap! That's a good point! I can't unsee it now. The low shoulders and hunched look of the Cougar was one of the things I really loved about it. It made it look like a bird of prey or a predator. It made it look really menacing.

By raising the shoulders, the new Cougar looks more like a porcupine or an armadillo.

<sigh>

Makes me worry that my other favourite Clan mech, the Rifleman IIC, may not look the way I had hoped.

that looks absolutely awful.

What's with the torso-leg connection? Why does it have little wings? Why does its arm have six individual and weak\thin joints? Looking at it's legs, it shouldn't even be able to stand under it's own weight. I think the Marauder was one of the better changes they've done.

Because that's how the Robotech(Macross) source material intended it to look(minus the wings), and Robotech/Macross 'mecha looks like sex:

Evangelion 'mecha isn't far behind:

On IS side:

-Raven (I still kinda like the MWO rendition, but it's pretty far from the BT design, which I greatly prefer)
-Wolfhound (especially the model Posted Image )
-Centurion (the model is the problem really, not Alex's design)
-Shadowhawk
-Bushwacker
-Black Knight
-Awesome

Clan Side:

-Shadow Cat
-Timberwolf (some aspects of it, at least)
-Warhawk
-Dire Wolf

Hadn't realized how picky I was about some of these Posted Image
